Popular tags? Your tags?
Hi there,
when first using GetSatisfaction, I thought the tags that are recommended to me, will get more. But they don't. Is this because there is not enough "tagging folk" or are the other tags missing the certain "critical mass"? Maybe you should lower it then...
The point is, I used the tag "usability" several times, but it didn't show up. Also I think, the mood tags are a little limited. The best solution would be from my point of view (if this is technically possible) to immediately recommend the tags, that one (the user) has used before.

Inappropriate?Recommended tags aren't personal, they're communal, and they're curated in the emotional arena.
In your case, you used usability several times, but it is still 10x lower in usage than the tag "interface", which does show up in the recommended list.
I do like the idea of making the emotion shortcuts populated by your past usage.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Hi Scott,
thanks for your answer. What do you think of my suggestion to ALSO (!) use recommendations out of your personal tagging behaviour?
Of course I don't want to ban the community tag recommendation! They're great! :)
I didn't mention that, but I wouldn't want to miss them of course. :)
What do you mean by "they're curated in the emotional arena"?
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Ah!
I didn't realize you meant in addition to the communal recommendation. I certainly agree!
As for the emotional curation:

in that case, happy, confident, thankful, and excited were pre-picked by us and do not change based on your usage.

Inappropriate? As I didn't explicitly mentioned it, you of course couldn't read my mind, yes. ;-)
Concerning "curated / curation", sorry, I'm not a native English-speaker, what does that mean? I didn't find it in the dictionary. Do you know a synonym?
Concerning the "emotion-tags" I also made a proposal, although this is "question"-colour-coded: "The best solution would be [...] to immediately recommend the tags, that one (the user) has used before."
So this of course also goes for the "emotion-tags", what do you think?
Maybe one reason for my proposal might not be very obvious to you:
As I non-native English-speaker, more recommended tags help to describe my topic and/or emotions more precisely (and faster), although I COULD search the dictionary for it, but as the recommendations are there to inspire you, you wouldn't have chosen the tag recommended, if it wouldn't have been recommended to you very likely!
Do you get my point?
Maybe also think of it (concerning the emotion-tags) like the way emoticons (~smileys) at deviantArt are selectable! Just mentioning that, because your emotion-selector immediately reminded me of that smiley selector of deviantArt! :D
Maybe one of your team with a deviantArt account could login and try it out and get inspired by playing around with the possibilities in deviantArt.

Inappropriate?Philipp, when we talk about "curation" we essentially mean organizing. The word in English traditionally refers to how museum staff decide how to present and organize exhibits. We use it as a term of art in the digital world to refer to how we set up -- and maintain and archive -- digital information.

Thanks! :)
