Really bad signup experience
Today I arrived at http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to... and clicked the yellow "vote for this button". When I saw the "create an account" response, the only thing that stopped me from cancelling was the OpenID logo; I promptly entered my OpenID and got the abridged signup page. So far, so good.
But then things went wrong: apparently I mis-typed the CAPTCHA. Instead of again getting the abridged OpenID-based page, I seemed to get a brand new signup form. It probably didn't help that I saw the profile import feature, and entered my Flickr profile URL to pull in my profile, which seemed to work.
By this time I'd noticed the signup page was not as it should be, and attempted to go back to the right one... *bzzzt* I ended up going back to the homepage and starting all over again.
So fine, I get the CAPTCHA right this time, and have an account. But then do you think I can find the profile import/sync function? No way, it seems to have totally disappeared, only showing up on the new user signup page.
By this time I'm so frustrated that I think "fine, I'll just close my account." *bzzzt* I can't close my account because I don't have a password!! (I know I could create one, but seriously, why would I create a password just to close my account!)
What I expected:
* A copy of the profile import widget thing on the OpenID signup page.
* A link to the profile import widget thing on the /people/xxxxx/edit page.
* To be sent back to the OpenID signup page when the CAPTCHA was incorrect.
* To not need a password to close an account that doesn't have a password (due to alternate authentication).

Inappropriate?Sorry that you had a bad experience. Using OpenID in situations like this is something we want to improve, and we have plans to fix this. I'll make sure that the rest of the team gets this feedback as well. If you need me to help close this account, let me know, but I hope you'll decide to stick around.

Inappropriate? Thanks Eric, I think I'm good for the moment. I've heard good things about Get Satisfaction, so I'm giving you a second chance. :)
There's also some other minutia I've noticed from looking around--it looks like you need to pay closer attention to use cases and the experience surrounding them. The site is a FANTASTIC idea, and has a good design, but some of the interactions either aren't what's expected or just don't work properly.
This is, of course, purely my 2c. Feel free to disagree.
I’m undecided.

I don't disagree with you. I have plenty of my own improvements I'd like to see, language in particular. Taking notes. I am confident we'll get to most of them. -
Inappropriate?Hey Clarion,
If you have specific feedback about interactions that aren't meeting expectations we'd love to hear about them! I'm really focused on wanting to bring more expectation-setting into the experience / user flow.
Would love to hear your suggestions posted as separate "Idea" topics so that we can track them, get additional input, etc. :) -
Inappropriate?Ok, I'll get started then. :)
I do want to point out that they're all really small things, but as you can see above, sometimes these small details can compound into a somewhat frustrating experience
I’m coming around.

Inappropriate?Totally. Hey, there can be beauty in small things too. We may not get it perfect but we definitely are constantly striving to make it better and even small details matter.
