Reporting Users (More reports = Ban)
I'd like to see a report feature, the more a person gets reported, the higher of a chance he will be reviewed for his quality of posts which could lead to being banned. I've come across many users who just spend their time insulting other users for no apparent reason. Setting them to block will not help out the rest of the community.

Not a bad idea you got there. As you can imagine, dealing with things like this can be tricky. Requires some thought. I'll share this with the crew here and see what they think of it, too. There might be other ways to have a reputation system that helps deal with troublesome folks, or this could be part of a larger reputation system. Thanks!

Hi Germain20,
I noticed you said "Setting them to block will not help out the rest of the community." Since Get Satisfaction does not have a "block" feature this leads me to think you might be talking about Twitter? -

Hi,
One of the threads on my company's section is getting spammed by this user: http://getsatisfaction.com/people/wil.... Can he be blocked?
The thread is here:

Thanks,
Kate

Contacted them and turned them off from posting unless they come back with a very good reason. Also, you are always welcome to contact us at moderation [at] getsatisfaction [dot] com, and we'll jump to it. Thanks again!

Thanks Eric!

Add an ability to remove a user from a community.
The moderators of a community should have that capacity of removing members from their own community.
I did a search in GS topics and found a lot of results of requests from other users for the same functionality. Hey, you should be using your own "merge" option for those (wink, wink!)
In any case, we have some troublesome users in our community right now, and other helpful members are weary of seeing their comments:

Hehe, thanks Monica. We do our best to merge dup topics when we find them! Do you remember the search terms you used so I can go through and clean those up?
In the interim, you're welcome to email me directly with the usernames of those members you'd like removed/banned and we can take a look at them. Do you need the email address for premium support or do you have that already? -

I agree. I wanted to do just that and couldn't find how, hence how I got to this topic.
Realized that there is no "Inappropriate?"/report link next to the comments on other comments. (loophole for rude users/spammers?)-
i also have the same question. some comments are personal attacks against the poster and just say rude things for the sake of it!

I have recently found while watching the Comcast Community (http://getsatisfaction.com/comcast) that there is a lot of Trolls, personally attacking other people that are making comments.
Is there a way to put remove the users profile or block him from the community without using the inappropiate button on the comment.-
Not at the moment unfortunately. Could you point me to the folks who are causing trouble?

is there a form we can fill in or a "report abuse" button we can press to report abusive users? some people are signing up for the sole reason of insulting others and making person attacks against others in comments (which we can't seem to mark as "inappropriate").
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
abusive user report form or a "report abuse" button. -

I’m
tired of removing all of his spammy topics.
We also have a repeating spammer -- http://help.izea.com/people/testkit
Any chance we can get him booted out of GS (or at least our community)?- view 1 more comment

Thanks. I had assumed that any topics marked as spam would automatically alert you that a user was a spammer. Maybe I should create an "idea" topic for that...

Hi Jamie. Any user can flag a topic or reply, and so while we do ban users based on their comments being flagged, we're more likely to jump to action more quickly if we see that request in our community from a moderator or a champ. Does that make sense?

I find it hard to believe that this issue has been open for "over 2 years" and we're still paying for a service that we can't fully administer. When is this going to be resolved?
-
Jay - I'm right there with you. I have been pushing to get this addressed with the product team and they assure me this will be address once we re-visit our identity structure. The main hold up is that currently you can ban people from individual communities - we can only ban them from the entire GSFN service. Addressing this can't be done with a quick fix, so while it is something planned for 2011 I can't comment on the specific time frame.
I'm really sorry about that. In the mean time you're welcome to reach out to us here for help with members violating the TOS. -

Morgan,
Thanks for the update, at least. It's nice to know that it's planned/in progress. A stop-gap feature would seem to be allowing admins to report users in an automated fashion. Full administration is certainly the end-game, but simply allowing us to flag users for your attention would be a great step in the right direction. -
