search results from feedback widget without being forced to signup/sign in
Feedback Widget: how can people enter a question/idea/etc and get SEARCH RESULTS without having to sign up?
I find it rather off-putting to have a simple question about a site, and in order to get that question answered, I have to sign up for a completely different site (GetSatisfaction).
I have a Feedback widget on my site, and I'd like people to be able to ask a question and get search results from my forums back without having to sign in/sign up. If they don't find the answer, THEN it's OK to make them sign up.

Inappropriate?Hi, Robio. We do offer single sign-on capabilities so companies can tie their own customer accounts to Get Satisfaction so no log-in is necessary. It's part of our Integrate package: http://getsatisfaction.com/features

Inappropriate?Right, but what about someone who is NOT a member of my site yet, and wants to ask a question before joining — a question that there may already be an answer for in previous GS posts? Why should they have to create an account just to ask a question that there's already a PUBLIC answer for?

Anyone can search and read and browse our site in the way that you mention. They can ask and see the answer without signing up. Hope this helps in some way. -
Inappropriate?That's true, they can search GS — IF they come to the forum. But if they're using the Feedback widget to try to ask a question, they can't get anywhere without creating an account.

Inappropriate?For every implementation I've seen, this is exactly how the feedback widget already works. User 1) clicks feedback tab 2) asks question and clicks continue and IF results exist 3) is presented with search results. IF results don't exist, user is prompted to login to post question. When you test the feedback widget on your site, you may want to test with a topic that you know already exists.

Hmmm. I'm not seeing that on my Feedback widget. Maybe I'd better check some settings...unless this is not part of the free version.
