I'm not sure what has changed recently, but I'm pretty sure I was able to "unfollow"/"unrate" a product or company (that I don't use anymore or that I've rated by mistake).
Is that option gone now?

To confirm, we now provide the ability to specify that you're no longer a customer of a company. For now, you do this by going to the company page, and clicking the "change" link next to the "customer since" date to expose this option:

If you see the "I'm a Customer" button instead, go ahead and click that to uncover the options.

Geysa's correct, this has been fixed. To remove companies or products from your profile, just follow these steps:
1. Click on your display name in the upper right hand corner
2. Click on "See all Products & Companies" just under the Company/Product list on the right hand side of your dashboard
3. On this page you'll see little "X's" in the upper right hand corner of each Company/Product. Just click that X to remove
-
Hey folks - I just pinged the Product team today on this one. I am doing my best to get you all an honest answer with regards to where we're at in trying to fix this.
-
-
you are, unfortunately, correct. we introduced some new functionality a little while back that broke the ability to remove products & services. yikes! fortunately, we have a "bug fix" friday coming up this week that we're going to use to add this back in.
our apologies for the error. we'll report back as soon as it's fixed.- view 1 more comment

Eric Suesz October 14, 2008 00:22It looks like we don't quite have it changed, but we have it in our tracking list of bugs/feature changes, and I'll keep you posted and let you know for sure when it is fixed, too. Thanks for your patience!EditDeleteRemove

Eric Suesz October 20, 2008 16:20Sadly, this did not get fixed yet. But, it is on our list, and my hope is that we'll be able to get this done relatively soon. We're pretty busy on our new company tools, but those will be done in about a week, so we should be able to get to this.EditDeleteRemove

Cool, thanks for the info, Lane. Much appreciated.
For a minute I was afraid I just wasn't able to complete such an easy task... ;) -
-
-
-
This functionality seems to still be missing. Is there a fix scheduled?
-
-
-
-
Yes, it is still missing, garrettc. We haven't been able to fit this into our schedule yet.
-
-
@EricSuesz; you should fix this asap i think. its kind of strange.
-
-
it sounds minor, but it's kind of a big deal: users probably don't want to be considered advocates of products they no longer use / like.
-
-
Three months and still no fix?
It can't be that hard to change. Can we at least get a time-line?
Or any bone thrown at us? -
-
So.... Is it time to abandon this product as un-supported or is someone listening?
-
-
We're still here, greggoodwin. And, yes, we are still supporting this product. I am doing my best to get a date for when this might be changed.
-

Hello all,
I know you're eager for this to be implemented and that we had hoped to have it done sooner. As I'm sure you can understand we are a small team with a lot to do and priorities shift based on many factors and moving parts. This is something we know we need to do but I can't give you an exact ETA at this time.
Thank you, though, for weighing in on this! -

I managed to rate a company purely by accident ...
You might ask, how could anyone make such a stupid mistake?
Well, it turns out that when I click in the company search box, a list drops down with some company names. I can select them with the down-arrow key. However, pressing ENTER at this point does not go to the page for that company, as a mouse click on its name would ... (I have Firefox 3)
So this is how I managed to rate the wrong company. -
-
Does this also apply to companies I am an employee of? I changed the company I work for and need to correct this, however, I do not find a way.
-
-
We need an answer on this asap. Had I known you couldn't remove a product, I would have NEVER used this. Furthermore, this makes it questionable whether or not to use Get Satisfaction if a problem like removing product is this hard to deal with. Can't it just be hidden?
-
Hmm, I like the idea of hiding or temporary disabling it. Well if that doesn't conflict with other features that is. Can it be done?
-
-
-
-
-
This is most disappointing. I'm sure the new CEO, Wendy Lea (@WendySLea on twitter) will get this resolved ASAP. I will touch base with her. This shouldn't take over 5 months to fix. Unfollowing/removing a product or company is a critical function to this type of service.
-
-
As the new CTO I'm now taking responsibility for this. Apologies for the lag time on this fix--I can see how frustrating this must be. Let's start the timer again now.
-
-
I would like to see this happen real soon! I need to clean up my list since it's huge!
-
-
no fix? i find it unbelievable that you are 'unable' to do it.
-
-
Wow. This is seriously crappy. This kind of a feature has been missing for six months and then is still gone almost a month after someone re-takes ownership? WTF?
I think it's time to go... -
-
-
-
-
-
-
When will it be implemented?
-
-
-
-
-
I'm confident it's just a matter of months to have this fixed! (^_^;)
-
-
Would it be relatively easy for you to remove Tapulous from my companies list please?
-
-
-
-
Just wait, over two month's time, some official will drop in telling us that it' a matter of days (or something to that extent).
Must be something that's really, really hard to fix. -
-
this is ridiculous. this is a basic functionality that should have been implemented with the initial release of this site, which im sure it was, but just because the site is up and there are users now doesnt mean you can let it slide and 'try to fit it into the schedule'
im sure what the real deal is that as long as someone cant remove a fan of a product then more people will subscribe their products and in turn get satisfaction gets more money. awesome. you guys sure have it figured out. -
-
I'm ready to clear ratings and remove companies/products I no longer use from my dashboard as well.
-
-
It's mind-boggling that a) this couldn't be fixed within days and b) that this issue is being ignored, despite Get Satisfaction's supposed *core focus* on customer feedback.
-
-
I can definitely hear all of this frustration, and I will be sure to pass this along again to the product team. As for the accusation that somehow not letting people unfollow products makes us more money -- well that flabbergasts me. This is a particularly vexing topic for me, as I share the desire to get it done.
-
-
Yes, this *has* been frustrating. FYI, if this was a simple as toggling a state this would have been done months ago. Alas, an architectural decision from early in the product's life created secondary issues that forced this to become part of a bigger project. The law of unintended consequences in action.
I will update here when we release the feature. -
-
Hey reps, I'm a software engineer and I know this feature can be a major effort. However, simply stating that you share our frustration and would like to see it implemented is doing little to manage our expectations. Can you let us know what stage the plan is in, if resources are assigned to it, and the estimate?
-
-
It looks like with the new update, there's finally an option to say that we are no longer customers of a company, but that doesn't seem to take the company out of the list of "companies I use." At least not yet. As Anthony said, an estimate on when the issue will be resolved would be nice.
-
Sorry about that, Rebecca: this is a page caching issue that is short-listed to fix this week.

I'm guessing that sidebar thing was a caching issue.
-

This is not appearing in my "procucts & companies" view. wtf?
-

-

Weird how I'm still having the problem. Maybe they fixed it, and then "unfixed" it again?
-
-
What about this???
I can't see the (x) when I go to "Producs & Companies". Did this really get fixed? Or is it broken again?
Someone please explain.
Oh and why is this topic marked as solved? -
-
we're working on this one - looks like it was resolved, and then somehow regressed. Hang in there, we'll get it sorted out.

I'm so sorry - hopefully we can get this fixed up soon.
-

Yes, you already said that. So, what's holding you back from fixing this?

we've got a lot of stuff going on, and a small shop. I can ask someone from our product/dev side to weigh in with more specifics, if you prefer.

I sure do prefere... Because up until now there hasn't been any info on this except for the acknoledgement that there indeed actually IS a bug. Wow @ that.
You know, nowadays everybody has "a lot of stuff going on". Ask me.-
I understand. Everyone's got a lot to do, I didn't mean to mean that as a flip comment. As soon as we've got more information about plans for making this better, we'll give y'all an update.

I’m
hopeful
I just tried the method described by Thor where you can un-follow from the company's page. I was able to un-follow the company in question.

At least the "un-follow" functionality isn't totally gone!
Am now waiting to see whether that company will also disappear from my "my products" page (it was still there right after I un-followed it; might be a cache thing...)
But I agree, un-following from your own "my companies" page is so much more intuitive-
Don't wait too long, they will *not* disappear. ;)
-
-
Aw shucks, you're right. Just checked when I saw your comment - it's still there all right.
Well, just to point out the silver lining, there is currently a way to un-follow a product. But GS, you've got to streamline it - it's kinda clunky right now :( -
-
-
-
-
What? I mean ok, I can unfollow a product, although the product won't disappear from "my companies"-page you consider this sucessfull unfollowing? Strange concept.
-
Not a strange concept, it's broken since a year for now.
-

That's what I was trying to say :P

WHY IS LIKE EVERYONE ON THE PLANET REPLYING, AND I DONT MEAN EVERYONE ON MY SHIDONNI WORLD!

19 days, no solution in sight. damn, if it wasn't for so many company's on GS I'd be running away from this thing.
-
-
-
-
hey GS - i have followed all the advice above.
and this has not removed any of the companies i am no longer a customer of.
this issue is not resolved, this question is not answered.
please fix! -
-
Will this ever be fixed? GS was so crappy actually a company called AgileWebSolutions (they make 1Password e.g.) decided to move back from GS.
Think about it... -
-
None of these are working no delete "X" and I am not a member of the company (gs site) anymore.
HELP! -

As you can see, it's much more important to get a shiny surface than fixing long term problems inside.

So the colours changed but the problem still is here. Well someone there is working. :-P~

How do I remove company icons from the "Products & Companies You Use" page on my Get Satisfaction profile? http://getsatisfaction.com/people/xxx... (BTW, that page's title doesn't render the ampersand correctly in Safari on Mac, just FYI)
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
How do I remove company icons from "Products & Companies You Use" page ?. -

We are all awaiting an answer on this one.
Ning, Xitti, and Wall.fm have ALL LEFT GS and they are still in my dashboard (clogging it up) nothing i do even unsubbing everything doesn't seems to help at all.
Need someone to delete things off of our dashboards! please! -

Has been a bug for over two years. Good job GS, not.
-
-
This should be fixed now. In order to disassociate yourself from products/companies, you can go to your profile and click on "See all Products & Companies"
-
-
Geysa's correct, this has been fixed.

Not sure about this. I managed to remove / unfollow a product on the list works, but I'm still seeing it on my profile summary (on the right hand side) ...will try to log out and back in to see of that fixes it....

Morgan - I'm not sure if you manually looked at our data - but I managed to completely remove the company by simply adding another company to our list. This somehow forced a refresh of that right hand side gallery? Something to do with the amount of companies? SuperMarkert - can you try that too? Frank
-
-
@Frank, oh I test everything before I confirm a fix, but must has missed this. This sounds like a dashboard caching issue. Let me check with the powers that be to see if we can do something about that.
-

Nice that this functionality is finally here. But I have to second Franks statement about the company icons still showing on the Dashboard-view on the right side. I think we are only have way there. Don't you test your updates at GS?
- view 1 more comment
-
-
> The fact that the icon are still appearing is a separate bug
Technically, maybe yes. However, for the users, they belong together. And the job is "Solved" or "Done" when *all* the related issues are fixed. Currently this is not (yet) the case, but there is "progress". Thank you for that. -
-
I totally understand your point - and this also reminds me why I shouldn't respond to topics before I've had my morning coffee :)
From an experience stand point these are connected, but unfortunately the physical code for the dashboard cache is sperate and I fear much more complicated than simply bringing back the ability to remove a product association.
In closing, the team is aware of the dashboard caching bug and we will work to have this fixed as well. -
-
-
-
Thank you Morgan!!! Just in time too, every company I use follow is no longer on GS.
Thanks again!- view 1 more comment

Don't worry I didn't stay with those companies. :-) They all seem to be "disbanding into oblivion" anyway so its no loss to you or I.

Hey Morgan,
I get what you're saying and stickl with my point that this isn't solved yet. It's not working so there's not too much to argue about it. Read the topic title and tell me if it's fix: yes or no. If you can answer that with a "yes" I'm keen to hear the logic behind that.-
Yes, this bug is fixed in the sense that you can remove company and product associations from your personal account.
The issue with the icons still appearing on the dashboard has to do with data caching, which I explain in this topic. -
