Unspecific notification settings are annoying
From your "Email & Notifications" settings:
"Send me email at my primary email address about new replies on topics I have posted, replied to, or followed"
That is really unspecific!
How about setting these per posting?
Usually If I have posted a problem myself, I want a notification on any comment.
But if I am only annoyed by something, like Twitter's IM-feature turned of, I don't want an email whenever another poor guy replys with "yes, this is so bad!", but I still want to follow that posting to show Twitter that it is important.

I have this problem, too!
Tell me when someone solves it.
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?I hadn't thought of it as being unspecific, but we'll take another look at it. The language on that page could certainly stand to be revised.
I want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding you. Are you saying that you'd prefer to get email notifications about topics you've started, but that you would prefer not to get notifications about topics you're merely participating in?
I'll try to get my fellow Satisfactioneers to chime in as well so we can get a good response for you. -
Inappropriate?Hi Helge!
Yes, the fidelity of our email notifications is limited right now, sorry about that.
We'd like to allow you to choose from more options in the future. Then you can say "Send me email notifications of new replies from topics I have: [ ] posted, [ ] replied to, or [ ] followed". It's not on the near future road map, but you'll be glad to know that we'd like to change this too.
In the meantime, you might also like to know that you can show your support for a topic by clicking on the "I have this problem/question/idea too" button. If you don't want to receive email notifications you can click the blue link in "You can stop following it." Your vote of support will still be counted, and you won't receive any future emails.

Alternatively, if you've replied to the topic, you can also go to the upper right side of the topic and choose to stop following the topic from there (NOTE: you'll have to reload the page to see the "Stop following this problem" option, this is a bug I've added to the to-fix list).

Thanks for pointing this out, we'll keep trying to make things better for you.
I’m sorry you're annoyed.

Inappropriate?I think another variation that would be useful -- and that I think Helge is touching on -- is to have the option to only receive notifications when an Employee has replied to topic so that you don't get all the "me too"s; particularly when it's something like status on Twitter's IM feature and you just want to be notified when there's an update from the company. Oh, or better yet, only notified when the company has changed the status setting of a topic.
I’m brainstorming
-
Nice! That would be really useful. Helge, any thoughts? -
Amy, excellent idea so that you don't get the "me too's" as I just received 7 due to problem of reply, trash icons not working. I would prefer replies from employees only when the matter is being worked on or has been rectified if that is possible or you mentioned changed status setting of a topic if that is same thing. I'm new to this, so it's like teaching an old dog new tricks!! Older people look at it as us doing something wrong. Younger blame the system!! I deleated my Twitter account out of frustration. New account opened to realize it wasn't me. Gotta keep it simple for people like me!! Thanks to whoever for fixing the problem!! -
Please implement this, and make sure you can have different email settings on different topics. I'm getting to many emails where there is a lot of discussion going on.
