Would prefer that Get Satisfaction users not treat this as a forum for political discussion.
I cannot put this in a kinder tone because this does not deserve a kinder tone.
There are some new users of the site, I believe because of Rick Sanchez, that think that Get Satisfaction's Twitter section is a political forum. Dear @ricksanchezcnn, please stop this crap.
Dear Eric Suesz and the other admins: please keep moving it to either the CNN GSFN section (haha!) or the US Government section (very appropriate).
here are 4 threads from the first two pages of the Twitter section bustling with idiot-activity. I guess the big thing at the top saying "Twitter" and that it's for help with twitter totally doesn't work when you're senile.
Media Madness, I am Shouting (listed as a question, when it should be a discussion, because the fact that it's a help forum is not obvious enough! NEEDS TO BE MORE OBVIOUS)
"WAKE UP PEOPLE" (listed as an idea, when it's a discussion, and belongs in the us government section)
palins popularity (at least he picked discussion!)
Sarah Palin is NO Hillary Clinton! what a great debate line for Joe Biden ! (also as a discussion, and it has 85 replies! not ONE saying "this is the section for twitter, not politics")
All of the above have been reported as inappropriate, before I decided just to go ahead and make a thread so that I could link @dirtysanchezcnn to it.
Here's some more from the related threads box (which is actually pretty well functioning)
SARAH PALIN A NOBODY (listed as a question for twitter)
an imature child needs to be protected. Palin not ready can't stand on her own. Obama has been campaigning on his own no one protecting him from the press. if sarah is not ready to campaign on her own how can she be ready for vice pres. oh i know she needs on the job training. (yes, the title is this long, there need to be limits to title length!)
MEDIA BIAS
I end on this 5 month old thread, what's the deal with all the pseudo political twitter spam lately and I'm being followed by annoying "candidates".
ALSO: Could we get a "suggest move" option under inappropriate, where it asks where the thread ACTUALLY belongs? That would be awesome.

person has this problem
I have this problem, too!
Tell me when someone solves it.
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.
The company thinks this is not a problem.

Inappropriate?Or if they're relevant, you could move them over to Sarah Palin is John McCain's New Bicycle.
I’m very amused by that metaphor
-
Inappropriate?Users are still retarded
-
Inappropriate?I disagree, Thomas: I bet you could put this in a kinder tone.
I appreciate your pointing these out. Always feel free to flag as inappropriate (which I see that you have done), and we'll take a look. I often find users who are not really here to get help from a company, and they are often quite willing to alter their behavior once we contact them. I'll do that.
Thanks as always, Thomas, for the eagle eyes. And, have patience; we'll
-
I'm in suspense, Eric! And yeah, I guess if I weren't so annoyed with the continuing flood that @ricksanchezcnn will be providing (I did point him to this post, by the way, letting him know he was ruining America, so maybe GSFN will be featured as a way for users to vent about other users venting?), then I could have tried to portray this as a way users are just confused and looking for help in the wrong place. I thought it was pretty obvious on the signup page that this wasn't a forum for anything, but a customer service site. -
Inappropriate?Good idea on the "suggest move" option, Thomas.
And Eric, not sure if you realize but your sentence got cut off above. -
Inappropriate?Ooops. Thanks! I meant to say that we'll have company tools coming very soon which make it easier for, say, Twitter employees to spot those topics that obviously belong in some other company space.
I’m finishing my sentence
-
Will companies be able to promote "power users" (like mdy) to give her these powers? -
I don't think we'll have time to put that in. We have a second set of tools planned in the coming months after this release. These will deal more with "team" aspects like Champions or deputies. Thomas, you are our perfect user in some sense: committed, critical, demanding, but genuinely helpful, too. We have to find a way to please you, for sure, and that Champion designation is the way to do it. -
I would be pleased with a job offer. (WINK WINK but just in case i wouldn't mind?) I'm surprisingly friendly when it's my job to be friendly. -
Inappropriate?Where'd all the threads go? I'm pretty sure people will start claiming GSFN censored the users, I was hoping they'd go to the sections that already do have these kinda threads and are kinda relevant, usgovernment and cnn (i asked @ricksanchezcnn to join the conversation, Eric!)
-
Inappropriate? Those topics are sitting in a holding cell, but will be moved to more appropriate areas. Sorry it is not immediately obvious.
-
Inappropriate? Also, since the Twitter Search icon is prettier than the Twitter icon, a lot of users are mistakenly misfiling their posts, making looking at the Twitter Search product useless. Please resolve. One solution: give me power to remove products from posts? ;)
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for pointing that out, Thomas. Actually, Twitter reps should be able to remove product associations from topics. However, we should be able to as well and I just tried but uncovered a bug that wouldn't let me. We'll get that bug fixed and then we can clean up those topics.
If you're feeling so inspired and want to email me a list of topics (topic URLs) that need to have the product association changed that would speed up the process. :) -
It would be more like a list of topics that DON'T need it changed. Much shorter. -
Ah. Well, perhaps I'll nudge the Twitter reps to make sure they know *they* can change product associations. :) -
Wasn't there a goal sometime to make 'curators' who can do this kinda stuff without actually being associated with the company? Twitter seems to not actually address every thread, preferring to let the community do the work. -
We are striving toward having all members of the community help curate -- those that want to, at least. I think we'll get there, over time. We're weighing our developmental needs with our resources as carefully as we can, so that we can ultimately please both customers and employees, but we still have work to do with tags and curation. -
Eric Suesz:
That's an excellent idea (even if I can't imagine how you'd protect it from abuse)! A few community members who'd willingly help as curators immediately come to mind (not to mention mdy ;). For a role model (off-site), see http://twurl.nl/nilh3q (NB the exact permalink is a little slow to load). -
Thanks for the link, Eridanus. Good stuff. Great user.
