Way to link threads needed
Be able to link to existing threads that answer a newly posed question. Some people post a question in multiple threads, or the same question is asked multiple times. I'd like to refer to an existing answer, but currently that requires me to open up another browser window search, and find a link.

I have this problem, too!
Tell me when someone solves it.
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.

The company thinks this is not a problem.

Inappropriate?Good news! If you are a company employee, you can use the Search tab in the new company tools toolbar. It can help you search for a related topic without opening a new tab in your browser. Like so:
Plus, if you have purchased the new company tools, you can redirect topics so that everyone can get on the same page, so to speak.

Inappropriate?

Thanks Eric. I am an employee.. of Skitch :-)
I overlooked that bar 'topic tools' bar because it was contracted and the disclosure triangle is all the way to the right. You may like to move the disclosure triangle to the left perhaps? Also, are there the same 'relevant results' available on the page? It seems to be a different search process, not the realtime one you use when creating a topic.
Perhaps you could pre-populate. So that even if the user has submitted a question in another thread, and missed the fact there is an existing thread, than the employee can more easily find and reference the existing thread.
In addition, the actual linking to a thread still is a little 'manual' to me.. unless I'm misusing the interface. I'd love to be able to read/peek the other pages without leaving the current one. Also then press a button to copy the URL into the Reply text entry field.
In essence, the workflow would be this.
1. My email says there is a new topic
2. I visit this topic on GS
3. GS has listed what it thinks are other relevant topics
4. I can click each one, without leaving the page.. getting some half-page view or similar. Even just opening a new window might suffice. key-combo can do it.. but as default is my suggestion
5. I find that the topic has a previous answer that the orginal topic submitter overlooked
6. I type a quick reply "hi Bob, it seems this problem has been solved before here:"
7. I click a little icon and the URL for the relevant topic is pasted into the text entry field
Done.
Even if I didn't need to reference another thread, being able to 'skim' related stuff would be handy, to brush up on technical details, application workflows, or known application bugs etc.
Thank you for listening. :-) -
Inappropriate?Yes, the search is a bit different than the real-time look-up you see when you're creating a topic.
I suppose you could prepopulate. I'll need to see what others here think of that one.
Plus, we are putting in a peek into other topics so you won't have to leave the page. And the links will open in a new window. Unfortunately, we didn't finish that in time for this release, but that won't be long.
I'll let our design/UI folks know about your thoughts on that triangle.
Great feedback! I should expect that from the folks who make Skitch!
