We have a new header!
To say the least! We are constantly striving to improve Get Satisfaction and our most recent improvement is focused on the top of the page. You've probably already noticed it. We have an in-depth explanation over on our blog, but in short you will notice the following things:
Ok, now tell us what you think! Don't be shy.
- More attention on the customer community and brand of each company, less attention on us.
- New, quicker, faster, better navigation links for both companies -- via the Company Tools link -- and users -- via your name link.
- Company & product integrated search! Yeah, we knew you'd be excited about that.
- A spotlight on the Company-Customer Pact which we hope will inform all interaction here on Get Satisfaction
- New placement for updates and important messages from the company -- front, top & center where everyone can see them.
- The ability to set a Company Message via the Admin interface that will stick to the top of the page. If you don't set one, that's ok, Company Update topics will fill that space instead.
- No more tabs, links instead plus some handy stats. We've switched out our "People", "Products", etc. tabs for links, added some news ones and are also including some new figures like how many total topics.
Ok, now tell us what you think! Don't be shy.
Follow this update to get notifications on your dashboard.

Inappropriate?Hi Amy
This is a fantastic update! I noticed it immediately as I opened Get Satisfaction today and already I feel right at home. So far I am in love with the new navigation, the focus on the Company-Customer Pact and the prominence given to company updates. Stats are more accessible too, which is great for reporting purposes.
Thank you very much for improving what was already an outstanding service.
I’m delighted!
-
hey monique! its strange seeing your name and profile picture without the employee badge! -
hay -
Inappropriate?Nice update. I really like it... BUT is there still no way to remove products from my dashboard? I really think the rating should be separate from what you are following, which just needs to be a yes/no toggle.
I’m undecided
-
It's coming. -
Inappropriate?awesome! we just started using Satisfaction for our customer service, and while we'll eventually be using the widgets and API on our own site, we're here for now. One of the first comments was specifically about the amount of header space. Wonderful first impressions!
I’m stoked

Inappropriate?I really like the new design!! Good job
-
Inappropriate?Looks slightly more 'corporate' actually but refined enough not to bother me. I like it!
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Beautiful.
The only thing I noticed that's questionable is the size of the "Company Update" Banner on the Management View page. I think it would look better if the width of the banner matched the width of the content on the page.

See what I mean?
I’m psyched.
-
A fix for will go out in the next deploy. Thanks! -
Glad I could help! -
Inappropriate? You're right, Dustin. That does look a little odd. One thing to note, though, is that only employees see that page. So at least it only looks bad for you. :)
-
Well, that's a relief. =P -

Inappropriate? The company update feature is really nice. Min dis racing on how best to use it...
Who gets notified when an update is made? Anyone who is following the company? or just the selected product and/or service?
I’m excited
-
Inappropriate?Good question, Aaron.
If the Update is set as a Company Message via the admin panel there are no notifications as it is not a regular topic. If it is set using the "Company Update" topic type it is treated just like all other topics in terms of notifications, except that it appears in that special space at the top of the company's pages.
Users who follow a company do not receive email notifications of new topics the way employees do. However, they can grab a RSS feed from a company's section and be notified of all new topics via that feed.
Hopefully that explains it?
-
Inappropriate?Looks WAY better and cleaner, less confusing for users visiting our Get Satisfaction. Really happy with it. Thanks!
Not sure if I missed it as part of earlier announcements, is it possible to create branded Get Satisfaction?
-
Inappropriate? Thanks, Anand. Glad you like it!
No, you haven't missed it. But definitely keep your eyes out. Customized, branded versions are coming soon with new pro packages. If you're interested in hearing more about this I can put you in touch with someone.
-
Inappropriate?hey bros
the 'welcome' dropdown is a little tricky to activate. the mouse needs to move in just the right way to click the dashboard link.
may i suggest a clickable dropdown like was there before?
I’m feelin the new layout.
-
Inappropriate?Hey John,
I'm not having that experience. Works pretty smoothly for me. What browser are you on? -

Thanks, Derek! -
Inappropriate? How can I get rid of the pictures next to the post?
For me, this is OK for FB, but very cluttery on a supposrt forum.
A standard forum format is preferred for product support.
Mike -
Inappropriate?Hi Mike. I think you're asking about the avatar images? You can't get rid of those. We don't consider Get Satisfaction to be a traditional forum. It's about productive conversations between real people and we like that to be represented via the interface.
-
Indeed! It is that human touch that makes Get Satisfaction the great service that it is. -
Inappropriate?Just fantastic work, guys. I can't wait to have an issue worth posting over!
I’m impressed
-
Thanks much! I'm sure you have many issues worth posting. :) -
Increase your display settings dude to 1024x768 minimum and the problem will be solved like magic:) -
Inappropriate? What version of IE are you using?
-
Inappropriate?Internet Explorer 7
-
Inappropriate?Ok. I'm not sure what's going on but I'll add it to our Trac queue. What page were you trying to access? Are you still getting that error?
-
Inappropriate?yes and no, somtimes it says it.
-
Ok. Well, we were having some server issues the other day so that may have been the cause. If you notice this happen again, please let us know. Any additional info you can give would be helpful too -- like what page you were trying to access, what page you came from, time of day, browser, etc. Thanks! -

Inappropriate?hello. :D
this is great. :)
i'm just wondering since i'm new here..... how do you add friends? :)
-
You can do that from your Contacts tab of your dashboard. -
Inappropriate? How does one get rid of the company announcement? As a user I want to dismiss it. As a company I want to take it out of circulation wholesale.
-
Flag it as Inappropriate and leave a note, and we'll remove it for you. If you're using the moderation tools, you can remove topics yourself immediately. -
I think Aaron is talking about the Company Announcement at the top of the page, not the Welcome post.
Hi Aaron, currently you can't get rid of the Company Announcement. However, it makes sense that we should allow that to be toggled on and off. -
As a user I want to dismiss the company announcement once I have consumed the information. Ultimately there could be a queue, of announcements. If there is another in the queue, so be it, I will read the next one and dismiss if needed. One they are all gone, then the bar needs to go away. I also think there is a great opportunity to make these targeted to segments of the user population. For instance, I only want to know about a system issue if I am impacted. -
Totally agree with you, Aaron. I would like it so that removing the announcement would be your sample of how to use the company moderation tools. Show, not tell. -
Inappropriate?Because of the company update being set to the last update topic, someone got really confused, and judging by their Avatar they're very Web 2.0.
Get Satisfaction is not blog.mozilla.com. It would be interesting if the Company Update thing could use an RSS feed from a selected blog...
I’m sad
-
That is an interesting idea, Thomas. We definitely want to bring more refinements to this feature. The latest was just a step in that direction. -
That could be interesting. I also wouldn't mind seeing a new Company Update by an employee of Mozilla. Incidentally, that message can be overridden by a default message via the admin section. -
Inappropriate?I love the new header! I wish the old logo were still up there, but besides that I'm very happy to see the increased focus on individual companies. The whole thing is much clearer. Nice work everybody.
-
Inappropriate?I really like the new update! I love the consolidation of options and list of all my companies in one place.
Thanks!
-
Inappropriate?I browse at 1024 x 768 so I now have a scrollbar of the nastiest kind... at the bottom of my window.
I’m a bit saddened
-
Increase your display settings to 1280x1024 dude will fix this -
Mike, that's no solution. :-/ -
Yeah, what Andrew said! Some users' display settings don't go higher than 1024x768. -
I'll make sure Ted takes a look at this tomorrow and see if he can get a fix in. Thanks for reporting the bug! -

Inappropriate? This site is looking exciting and can be a very valuable tool for me. So far the sites I have checked for this sort of help were actually merchants only offering membership to exporting sites. Not what I am looking for, quite the opposite. Looking forward to interacting with your site! http://coopermays.blogspot.com/
I’m hopeful!

Inappropriate?i hate when things keep changing, makes it very difficult for user
-
Our hope is that it change ultimately equals improvement, and not stagnation. Onward and upward! -
agree -
Inappropriate? As a user, I'd really love a simple search box. The "ask a question" doesn't often return results, and I can't find the help I want right now. I'm new... maybe I'm missing something?
I’m frustrated
-
We need to improve our search. I sometimes use Google Site Search to get more targeted results: http://skitch.com/supereric/bj6wt/sit... -

Inappropriate?I noticed it too. Unfortunately, when I scroll down to the dropdown, the dropdown menu disappears. Would appreciate a fix.
I’m undecided
-
Hi roundstone - What dropdown menu do you mean? -
Also, roundstone, if there's any way to provide a screen shot, that would be awesome. -
Even if you scroll down over the black area? What browser & platform are you using? -
Inappropriate?Yes. I wouldn't be able to scroll down unless I would be in the black area, no? Just making you smile, lighten up! I am using Firefox 3.0.8 on Windows XP.
It's fine now, you must have solved it already or it was just a temporary glitch.
Thank you for your time.
I’m happy
-
I had a feeling you'd come back at me with a snarky retort, but I had to ask anyway. One never knows the knowledge level of the person posting. :) -
Inappropriate?I may have said "it's fine now" too soon. Right after I posted above, I went to it again and it is again disappearing when I scroll down.
I’m silly
-
Ok, I'll report this to our front end kungfumaster. Thanks for the additional details. -
Inappropriate?Hi roundstone.
Does the drop down disappear when your mouse is no longer over it? If so that is the expected behavior. It's a mouse over menu, not a click menu. Whether you move your mouse off it or use your scroll wheel to scroll down the page it will disappear.
I can see how it could be confusing.
I’m curious
-
Inappropriate?Ah yes, you are right. Indeed, it is confusing and quite slippery if you have not been told (I have been using my scroll wheel)... thanks.
I’m thankful
