Is GetSatisfaction suitable for individual developers? There is a lot of mention about saying what company you work for - but can you use it to support apps you release independently?

Inappropriate?Yes, of course! Many people do. See my friend Buzz's Get Satisfaction space for PodWorks, for example. It is up to you exactly how you wish to represent your "company," which will act as the overarching container for one, or many products you create. In short, it's simply how we represent the "organization" responsible for a space on Get Satisfaction.
We have "companies" representing many different things: Barak Obama, City of San Francisco, State of Michigan, etc.
To speed the appearance of your new company to the public search on our site, please make a note about your purpose for creating the company, so that Eric or Amy will know to pass you on through.
