Automatic Subscription
I know I can subscribe to the dashboard or a particular design's RSS feed to keep track of when a client makes a comment. I'm also aware that I can subscribe to a particular design to get email alerts.
But, I'm the forgetful sort and would love if all of that was taken care for me. If I upload a design, it can be ascertained that I would be interested in following the activity on that particular design.
If that assumption can't be made at a broad-based level, perhaps allow admins to set which users from which companies to automatically subscribe. I'll turn to 37Signal's interpretation of this in Basecamp. When creating a new message, you're able to select whom you want to inform (if anybody) that the design is up. I'd love to be able to do the same with GSO.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the idea. I see where you are coming from. We will investigate this idea further and see if it is appropriate to implement.

Inappropriate?I agree that we can sometimes be forgetful. Also, sometimes, the clients may not know to check the box to receive email alerts. This is an awesome feature, but I feel it should be defaulted on in this scenario. Maybe when first logging in, setting a flash[:notice] = %{Your email alerts are currently set on, go to your settings or click #{link_to('this link')} to turn it off.} when they log in??
Thanks,

Inappropriate?I think Jeremy's idea is spot on. I came on here to ask the same thing.
The e-mail notification options need to made much more obvious, having it on by default would be good.
As an absolute minimum though it needs to be possible for us designers to be able to see if a client has got the e-mail notifications turned on or off. Without knowing, it means we need to get in touch with the client every time we add a new comment/design because we do not know if they have been automatically notified or not.
Many Thanks
James
