So what do you think of GetSignOff?
GetSignOff is still a new born web application and although we are very proud of it we know it can be improved. We would love your feedback so please tell us what you think.

Inappropriate?Yo, firstly thank you for the app invite. Im excited about GetSignOff because I can really see a place for it in every web agency, including the one I work at. For that commercial reason, and because I freakin love this industry, I'm more than happy to provide you guys with feedback to help refine the app :)
I've had a little play today and made the following notes as I was going through it. I'll post them all here for now but perhaps they can be split into bugs, improvements and suggested features at a later date.
Help
- Although new windows are evil, the user would expect this to open in a new window so they dont lose anything on the page their on when clicking "Help"
Naming/logic
- While I can see the advantages of showing most recent designs first on some parts, I wonder if clients will be confused when asked to click on "Previous" template to see the template recently added and "Next" to see the previous template?
Dashboard
- Cannot see my own comments on the new comments section
Uploading design images
- I uploaded a 5mb PNG and the lightbox type loader just kept spinning. I guess because it was taking a while to upload, but just some "uploading, please wait" may removing any user wondering.
- I named one design ""Example content and form" and on the project dashboard page the name caused the line to wrap and thus the image thumbnails to lose horizontal alignment, not major, but neat is always good ;)
Designs - full size
- When zoomed in, and from a non-savvy client perspective, it wasnt immediately obvious how to get back to the design not zoomed in. Browser back button works, breadcrumb back to design title works, but a "Back" link may be useful
Design comments
- I added a http// link to the comments and was told it was invalid, while the error message was fine, it would be great to have a way to add links into comments, perhaps for clients to have the ability to add linkable links to sites they like or competitor sites to refer too. The link was however successfully post, just with the HTML stripped out.
- For some reason, after adding a new version of a design, when I try to add a new comment the page just re-directs to the /dashboard page and the comment is not posted. (EDIT - The comments has now appeared)
Design notes
- The line colour of note indicators perhaps could be more prominent and also an option to switch note indicator borders on and off the preview image would be nice?
- To add a note you have to scroll down to the bottom of the image, then back up to position the note and add text, would be nice to have this "add note" link at the top of an image also to make it immediately visible and reduce scrollage.
- Would be nice for the "Add note text here..." text to vanish on mouse click
- I envisage a lot of clients asking questions in notes, Im undecided if this will add just too many different threads to one design, but Im thinking about the ability to add a reply/comment to a note
Image naming
- When using the re-name by clicking on the Edit icon on an image, I receive an error saying I do not have permission to make this change despite being an administrator
Account details
- No obvious indicator my details have been saved after button click

Inappropriate?Hi Sam,
there is some absolutely brilliant feedback here and we really appreciate you taking so much time over it. I have passed the majority of issues across to the development team who will be working on it all soon.
Thanks again! -
Inappropriate?
I haven't used the service as such yet but, just from looking around, there are a few tweaks that would give it some extra polish on a useful-looking app.
I think the copy needs tightening up a bit, as well as proof-reading:
- On the help page, it says "It will be kept safe on our servers incase you choose to upgrade later".
"In case" is two words, not one. - On the dashboard, in the yellow panel it says "Hello and welcome to your GetSignOff dashboard, it's looking a little bare at the moment, but we can soon sort that."
The first comma should either be replaced with a semi-colon, or use a full-stop and start a new sentence. - In the same yellow panel, rather than telling the user to click another link elsewhere on the page ("Add a client"), just make the panel link to "add a client", i.e. "Start by adding your first client."
- On the Manage Clients page, it says "Lets begin by creating your first client, and assigning it a project."
It should be "Let's", and clients are a "them", not an "it". There's another instance of telling the user to click a link elsewhere on the page rather than linking directly.
The typography could also use some adjustment:
- Increased line-height would aid readability, I think. At the moment the help page especially is very tightly packed, which with the relatively wide column width and small-ish font size makes it a little hard on the eyes (I'm in my early-mid 30s and don't wear glasses...yet!). I just looked at the font stack - "Helvetica, Arial..." - I think that doesn't help, either. Arial (which I'm falling back to) just doesn't read well at that size, IMO.
- There are also some instances of unfortunate foreground/background colour combinations (e.g. orange on mid-grey for the Company URL on the account page).
Usability
- When you save your account details, no message is displayed confirming that the changes have been saved.
- I think it's a little disingenuous to show the "Add project" link on the dashboard before you've set up your first client. However, I think I can see why you've done it: to get people started who weren't thinking "I need to add a client first". Perhaps the first-add/first-time funnel could be more well-defined?
Accessibility
I've no idea if it's accessible or not, but I expect you at least considered what level you're going to support.
I’m needing more polish
- On the help page, it says "It will be kept safe on our servers incase you choose to upgrade later".

Inappropriate?Hi t1mmyb,
thanks so much for the feedback. You have given us a lot of detailed info there. Thanks.
Obviously, the site is in beta for a reason. That is why feedback like yours is so valuable. -
Inappropriate?Does the client automatically recieve an email when you assign them to a project? I have just added my 1st client but have had no response from them either way so just wondering.
Dan
-
Inappropriate? No Dan, they do not. We need to make this clear somewhere. We decided not to do this because otherwise it is possible clients will be notified before you are ready for them to see the design.
-
Inappropriate?Maybe there could be an opt in box if you want to let the client know straight away?
Am I right in saying then that when you add an image they are notified of how to log in, with details etc?
Dan -
Inappropriate? No they will not be notified. That is for you to do. For now at least. We are debating all kinds of different approaches to this problem. At the moment it is down to you to notify for client of new designs and provide them their login information.
-
Inappropriate?OK, we've just made some changes to the client notification procedure, hopefully it's more intuitive now.
Clients will get emailed with a auto-generated password when they first get assigned a project. They will then get an email notification if they are assigned any more projects.
If you don't want an email to be sent, you don't have to assign the client login to a project, or you can disable the login altogether.
Thanks for all the feedback. -
Inappropriate?I think it's a great service and I have only just started playing with it. Reading through some of the comments here I can see that many of the niggles I have found you are aware of, and thinking of implementing.
