How to save the life of your LCD screen...

There has been some criticism on the Apple review site about not turning off the backlight while the application is running.

I want to assure everyone that there is a current solution to this.

While Apple doesn't provide the ability to turn off the LCD backlight, you can turn off the screen while keeping the application running. This is done by the proximity detector on the top left of the phone. You can place something over the phone at this spot or simply turn the phone over.

A bug report has been filed with Apple and hopefully in the next version of the Iphone OS we will have the ability to simply dim the screen.
