Gray box of Google Reader doom. Last reply on May 14, 2008 15:59.
I get a strange gray box in Google Reader whenever I am using it. I don't know what is causing it, but sometimes I can highlight the text behind it so I can read and it sometimes it scrolls at a different rate than the rest of the window. It looks like it is caused by Java though I could be way off. I am using Firefox 2.0.0.12 on OS X 10.5.2. I took a screenshot of it to show what it looks like and I am wondering if anyone else has run into something similar.

Social Networking Through Google's Contacts
Replace all social networking with Google's contacts. Let users put whatever they wish in some profile like we can now with our picture in the google contacts. Assign views to everyone, select people, or groups. Through the user's contact profile you can see docs they have made public or shared with you, calendar's they have made public or shared with you, reader items shared and even mail shared.
No more facebook, plaxo, etc. Just google, sweet and simple :) -

No email autocomplete in Google Reader
Why do I sometimes get an autocomplete when I email, and sometimes not? It's irritating that it happens haphazardly.

Color-code feeds and folders in Google Reader Last reply on October 16, 2007 00:57.
I think it would be helpful if we could color-code feeds and folders in Google Reader. For example, I could make all feeds inside my Local News folder green, my Facebook feed red, and everything else would stay the default white/blue color. This would help me find what I want now. Obviously everything I keep in Google Reader is important to me, but maybe right now I am just looking for local news. Color-coding seems to be just the thing facilitate this at just a glance. -

Posts that exceed reader's viewport are difficult to scroll horizontally/view entirely
When viewing posts with large images (or in fact anything that forces the post to be rendered wider than the viewing area in google reader), the iframe's scrollbars are way down at the bottom, and you have to scroll down to the bottom of the post to get to the horizontal scrollbar, before you can scroll across, and back up to the top, to view the other piece of the post.
As an example, view the Diesel Sweeties RSS feed:
http://www.dieselsweeties.com/ds-unif...
Scroll down to the post for April 6, 2008 - it is very difficult to view the entire comic without scrolling up and down and left and right.
I appreciate that putting posts in an iframe means you're a lot safer from cross-site scripting attacks and so on, and that this constrains what you can do with the post, but is there not some way to make large images draggable, or scrollable with the keyboard? -

Google Reader isn't updating my RSS feed for hours at a time
I'm using Google Reader to track a lot of RSS feeds, and I have one very important feed that I monitor every day. That feed consists of thousands of items. Lately, I've noticed that Reader will stop pulling in feeds for a few hours, and it is really important that I keep on top of the feed. Is there anything I can do to find out if this is temporary problem with Google Reader? Or, is there any other advice you might have for me? I am thinking I need to switch back to NetNewsWire if I can't be sure Google Reader has me covered. Love any advice you can give me. Thanks!
