Replace all social networking with Google's contacts. Let users put whatever they wish in some profile like we can now with our picture in the google contacts. Assign views to everyone, select people, or groups. Through the user's contact profile you can see docs they have made public or shared with you, calendar's they have made public or shared with you, reader items shared and even mail shared.
No more facebook, plaxo, etc. Just google, sweet and simple :)
#1 When and how will GC integrate into Gmail? Today there is Gmail/Google Talk integration there is still no Gmail/GC integration (even though it supports "real" voicemail).
#2.) Does GrandCentral support contacts sync w/ Google/Gmail yet? I'm not finding any way to get that done, even though Google owns both products. Yet there are a zillion ways to sync Gmail contacts with *non* Google products (and Google even is behind some of those 3rd party syncs).
What is the Grandcentral plan? It seems like since Google bought it that there has been no new development and the support channels have been severly narrowed. I'm getting the feeling like it is being abandoned.
I was just thinking how nice it would be for Google to buy Twitter. For one, they could make great integration with gmail an other products in the google world, Two, finally fix that IM problem, as well as make great new features.
I'd love it if the address completion that I get when using http://mail.google.com/mail in the To: field was available to desktop email applications like Apple's Mail application through LDAP.
It would be very handy to be able to find a contact through the chat box and go directly to the contact's profile. It seems so natural to me that I frequently catch myself searching for my contacts in the chat box and trying to access their profiles. It would be a great shortcut.
Oh, and just for the record, I know I can quickly access a contact's profile if the person is listed on the chat list (usually gmail user), but this does not apply to users that have other email addresses than gmail.
I'm importing my contacts from Thunderbird to gmail, and they're showing up wrong. There are doubles of many of the names, some are missing all information, and many have other people's information! I go to call one person, and get another....how can I fix this without having to go through all 900 contacts manually and edit them?
When you send/reply to an email, Gmail automatically adds an entry to your "contacts". While I'm sure this is useful to some it is very annoying for me to wade through contact info I know I don't want or need. (i.e. job-448893337@craigslist.org is not something I want to save, despite having sent an email via gmail)
Can you add an option (like most desktop apps have) to disable this feature?
This combines three ideas into one. First idea, shared earlier hear, have a social networking scheme through Google contacts. If they are in your address book they are in your social network. No more facebook, no more shag space (myspace), just google, sweet and simple. Second idea, allow an aggregation of all your friends bookmarks. Why? Third idea, if the second idea is made anonymous (you don't know who's bookmark it is), you can link it with adsense and let the friend get paid for bookmarking it, if that website is enrolled in adwords.
The Contacts list really needs to be overhauled. It would be good if you could do the following:
* Have the last email from said contact show up on the same section as their contact details
* Delete more than 20 people at a time
* Once you delete 20 people (or whatever the limit is) you return to your original spot, not the beginning of the list
* Add people I REPLY to but not necessarily those I INITIATE contact with
* Be able to edit contacts on a separate page, away from Gmail
* Have alphabetical tabs
This would be extremely helpful and make the Contacts section much much better.
