The future? Integrate iGoogle, Calendar, Docs, Sites, and Talk/Chat - all in 1 - via Google Groups - so that groups of interested individuals can fully collaborate across the entire spectrum of Googles Suite of apps: building a collective portal of interesting feeds and information (iGoogle), sharing documents (docs), calendaring for events (calendar), building wiki pages and collaborative documentation and projects (sites), chatting all the while when people are online (talk).
In google groups there is a section for files... and it's great, sorta.
A lot of the files are appended with a 2 or a 3 and then they don't open properly... they just open like a text file.
It would be ideal if they just opened in Google Docs (and some people could download them if they prefered). I prefer using google docs for shared .doc files.
Google Groups is really nice but please provide some spam check. Maybe the user has to confirm his/her post via mail? Or click a link on a web page and enter a 400 digit code or whatever...
Don’t think I’m lying when I say more than the half of Google Groups is full of spam posts. In the past I remember I reported every spam message I’ve found... but even weeks.. and even MONTHS they are still there. No one cares?
I thought Google Groups would be the "next generation" of the good ol’ Usenet? Sorry, but the good old Usenet is having less spam posts.
My Google account has been banned from *everything* in the Google Groups domain (see screenshot).
I'm the owner of the "GTD TiddlyWiki" group, so I keep getting administrative emails that I can't do anything about.
I haven't done anything to get banned, and if you search Google for "banned from all google groups" you'll see that other people are having this problem too.
There is no remedy because Google Groups support policy says they don't do email support for this type of problem, and as far as I've seen there is no review or reset process.
I have a Gmail account which has numerous e-mail accounts feeding into it - all of which are recognised as sender names. But my Google Groups account is tied to my gmail.com address. This means that either I have to sign up for multiple Google accounts for each different email account and keep them all in-sync, or I have to send all my mailing list e-mail from my gmail.com address, even though that's not my primary address. I therefore get lots of e-mails back from Google Groups telling me that I'm not allowed to send to that list. This is annoying and is preventing me from fully participating on some mailing lists.
I am a human being. I am not my khakis or my sofa and I sure as shit ain't my inverse functional properties! ;) Please fix this!
