Adding Contacts On The Fly
I think that after you hit "show details" in a message, you should be able to click a link next to any of the listed (To: or CC:) addresses to quickly add them to your contact list (and if its already in your contacts, display it as a reminder such as "Already a Contact", instead of a link).
The only work around (that I'm aware of) of adding these addresses to your Contacts is to open another Gmail tab and copy-paste to your contacts. In other words, beating rocks together.
Gmail is bringing out all these cool features in Labs, but this seems kind of like fundamental feature you'd think would be included by now.
After all, chances are good that the other people included in To: or CC: are people you know and want to add.
