Inappropriate?Have you noticed any javascript errors? I'm assuming you are talking about email address autocomplete.
I haven't experienced this problem, myself. I'm using Safari 3 on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
Can you give more details about your browser and OS?
I’m a gmail user

Inappropriate?I have not noticed any javascript errors. Autocomplete for e-mail addresses works fine in the older version, but not in he new version.
I have OS X 10.4.11 and Safari 3.0.4 (523.12) in my Mac Book Pro.
Thanks for your quick reply and for anything you can help me do to resolve this problem.

Inappropriate?Cameron,
Thanks for your interest. As of today, the problem seems to have resolved itself.

Inappropriate?Hi Werner, I have one more suggestion to you. Keep in mind that I'm not a Google employee, so I can't help you from the "inside." You said you're using Safari. Next time you load up Gmail, go to the Window menu and choose Activity to open the activity window that will show you all the files and data that are needed to make gmail work as they are loaded in from Google. Scroll down in this window and make sure every item has fully loaded, then see if autocomplete is working again. The contacts are loaded in the background after you can begin typing in the address field, so autocomplete may not work until that data is available.

Inappropriate?Cameron,
Thanks for your continued interest. I checked Activity when I'm on the new version and find that not everything is loaded. When I switch to old version everything is loaded. Any ideas on how to correct this?
Thanks, Werner
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? It sounds like the new version is just being slower to load in all the data. If you bring up the new version and wait a little while for all the requests to finish, does autocomplete work? You can keep browsing the web in another tab or window while you're waiting.
-
Inappropriate?I tried waiting a long time for the new version to load all data as you suggested, but still no luck. Any further ideas?

Inappropriate? At this point. My only suggestion is to go back to the old version while using Safari. I had a lot of trouble using the new version on Safari today myself. Autocomplete *was* working, but other things (namely the "Settings" link) just weren't.
Everything works great in Firefox.
I’m sticking my tongue out at Google's launch-day Safari support

Inappropriate? Thanks again for your quick reply. I will go back to the old version. I hope they don't discontinue it.
How about Camino?

Inappropriate? This is a known bug (see <http://mail.google.com/support/bin/st...> for more information). There is a work-around. Select "Older version" in the upper right corner of the screen and you'll be returned to the previous version of GMail which did not have this problem. You will need to do this each and every time you load the GMail page. There is a work-around for that too. You can go into "Settings" and change your default language to "English (UK)".
For what it is worth, the problem will be corrected shortly.
Hope that helps.

Inappropriate?Dear Bjorn,
Thanks for your reply. I have been using the older version to compose mail since auto complete works there. I do like the Contacts format in the new version. You have given me hope when you say that the auto complete problem will be corrected shortly.
Thanks and Happy New Year,
Werner
