Can't install Chrome
It's and odd one. I go to the chrome download site (http://www.google.com/chrome), download the file (ChromeSetup.exe - 475KB) after accepting the license agreement, double click on the downloaded file and... absolutely nothing happens. There is no folder left, no logs, nothing in system logs... zero, zilch f**k all really.
Any ideas?! I'll be more then happy to supply any info needed. Just tell me what's wrong and how to resolve it.

I'm sorry you that Chrome isn't installing for you. We are aware of several issues preventing proper installation, all related to third-party security software which terminates the installation.
Are you running ZoneAlarm or Kaspersky or Symantec Endpoint Protection?
In any event, the place you want to be is here:

Inappropriate?I've got the same problem... looks like GoogleUpdate is running in the Task Manager, but nothing is happening. I can't even uninstall Chrome from the control panel
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?Don't get it. A multimillion dollar company starts a new product. Claim's the product is in a way revolutionary. Want's to compete with another company... And suddenly someone can't use the application even though the requirements are met... does Google just don't give a f**k?
I’m not impressed
-
Inappropriate? My task manager doesn't show any google software running. That's the problem. At least if it would crash i would know what's the problem.
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?even i cant install Google Chrome.
it sucks when we dont have all solutions.
why such big company doesnt test it properly before releasing such softwares?

Inappropriate?Ditto here. Chrome setup begins and then just disappears. Doesn't create desktop icons but there is a startup group. Can't launch Chrome from the startup group icon and the uninstall doesn't work also. Have deleted all setup files (for some reason, located in local settings instead of program files) and all registry keys and all temp files and tried to do it again, with the same results. Lenovo T60 laptop with XPsp3. I run IE7 and FireFox portable just fine.
I’m frustrated

None of the above. I recently reinstalled my vista and decided to see what happens then. There was absolutely NOTHING installed on my laptop except vista and guess what... Nothing! So I guess you guys just don't like HP. And BTW same happens with Gmail Video Chat and google earth. Citivan or no citivan only google software does that. Any clues on the matter?! -
Inappropriate?going through the posts in the google group you linked to, I discovered that by disabling citivan.exe I was able to run Chrome. Your installer must use the same process as citivan.exe
I’m almost satisfied.

Inappropriate?I found my solution... adding --no-sandbox after the exe from the Start->Run menu.
Here's what is in my Run prompt box:
"C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --no-sandbox
Now it works like a charm. :) (And I wasn't running any of the software (anti-virus or otherwise) listed by the Google rep above.

Inappropriate?Never mind, I rebooted and it no longer works. Nothing's wrong with Firefox, so I'm forgetting about Chrome. eh.
-
Inappropriate?Same here, can't install Chrome
nothing happens. -
Inappropriate?I used to run Chrome then installed IE8 and now Chome no longer runs and will not install.
-
Inappropriate?I ran Chrome for quite a while with no problems. Then ... we upgraded at work to IE8 and bam! - Chrome died and will not reinstall. I'm not at all happy.
I’m disgusted.
-
Inappropriate?what i did was uninstall it by going to start>all programs>google chrome>uninstall and when it uninstalled i downloaded it and it worked!!! woot
I’m happy
