chrome hangs when streaming video!
i'm running a 2.4GHz pentium 4 with windows XP home edition SP3 with 1GB or RAM. i downloaded google chrome and encountered problems when streaming video and playing flash content. for example, streaming a video from youtube will cause the whole browser, not just the tab, to lock up for up to a few seconds. alt tabing away from this window will cause the flash plugin to crash. this is a very frustrating problem for me because it is the only thing stopping me from making chrome my default browser. i have tested this to see if it maybe wasn't the browser but IE7 seems to play the youtube clips with no problems. sometimes the only thing that happens on chrome is the video will freeze (along with the whole browser) but the sound will keep playing. once the browser recovers, the video plays at double speed until it 'catches up' with the sound. Please look into this!! Chrome is a really awesome browser and i would like for it to be my default

Inappropriate?I couldn't watch any streaming video at all in Chrome and a lot of my video was choppy in IE
Try this: Go to adobe.com and get the uninstaller for the Flash player. Remember to close all apps that might be using Flash. Uninstall player (you might want to reboot your system when it's done just to make sure nothing else was running flash that you didn't know about). Reinstall Flash player.
It worked like a charm for me in both IE & Chrome.
Good Luck!

Inappropriate?I noticed that while streaming there are multiple Google chrome processes listed in taskmanager. The busiest one of the processes (I suspect it contains the video player) has a thread priority of below normal. Setting this priority to normal or higher mitigates the problem. But I am sure it creates other risks, though I have had no problems with this workaround it so far. I think google makes this priority lower deliberately so that the other google chrome processes can continue running in the event of a plugin freeze up. but as you can see this leaves the video at very low priority and succeptible to hanging even more when multitasking while surfing.

Hey man thanks a bunch this solved the problem 100% for me. None of the other solutions worked for me, but this one.
The only nudge is that i have to go to taskmanager and do this each time i've had the browser closed.
But should be easily solvable by Google now. -

Inappropriate? Here is a quick work around:
1. Right click on the Google Chrome blue task bar at the top of the browser
2. Select task manager.
3. Select Plug-in: Shockwave Flash and click End process
4. Ignore the yellow error box and just Refresh the page
5. Video should play through now -
Inappropriate?Problem fixed!!!
Download lastest version of Adobe flash plugin in
