Gmail spam filtering is broken. 4 emails from gmail a/c to gmail a/c, 1 goes to inbox, 3 to spam!!
I sent 4 emails from my gmail account to the same gmail address. 3 made it to the spam folder, 1 to the inbox. The last of the 4 was in the inbox. The recipient was surprised to find many other relevant and useful mail in the spam folder. Too many false positives!.

Inappropriate? Are you referring to the paranoid, delusional "Gmail Spam-Nazi"? (That mentally-ill "algorithm" Gmail uses to achieve the highest false-positive rate among all large email providers?)
You bet. If you want your social life to dry up, use Gmail -- you'll miss lots of invitations, personal messages from friends, bulletins, newsletters, etc.
If you want to never get that job offer you were expecting, use Gmail because they are the most likely to put it in your spam folder.
Hey, the Gmail folks don't care. They already have jobs at Google! -
Inappropriate?I've had this problem too. It seems like it's maybe gotten a little bit better lately, but it's been bad enough in the past that it's prevented me from switching to gmail as my primary mail system. I've documented instances of upwards of 5% of my spam folder (over thousands of messages) being false positives.
IM(NS)HO, a 0.0005% false-positive rate would be too high. 5% is ludicrous. (Fortunately, as I say, it does seem to be a little better lately. Perhaps this has gotten some attention? Perhaps someone on the gmail team could reply?)
I’m frustrated
