Google Calendar Gone Awry

I use IE8 with Windows XP and have a Google homepage with Google calendar. Calendar events display below the calendar. For the last couple of days there have been 2 issues: 1) I cannot access Google calendar and 2) no events display below the calendar. If I try to access the calendar, I get a new window trying to go to this url:
https://www.google.com/accounts/Servi...

However, It never loads. All works perfectly on Mozilla Firefox. Can you help me fix IE8? Thank you.
