Inappropriate?Correct.
When you paste an image into a web browser, your computer does not send the image to the server. Thus we have no way of referencing the image.
Currently there is no standard from the W3 which defines on-paste image upload behaviour, so it is doubtful that the browsers would be interested in adding this feature. However, maybe an extension could be written.
I'll look into it. Thanks! -
Neil, What about using Gears localserver to host the image currently on the clipboard. It shouldn't be to hard to do. The only thing left todo would be to have Gears transfer the image from the localserver to Google servers when the user hits CTRL + V. Granted that Gears settings for that website allowed this. Let me know what you think, i wouldn't mind doing some of the coding (on Gears). -
Neil, since text ctrl-p works fine I guess on-paste TEXT upload behaviour of text on the clipboard works fine. Then, as a workaround, would it be possible to convert/code the image file stored in an image format into a intermediate home made text format? Then you upload the text and you can convert it back to the proper image format. -
Inappropriate?Neil
You guys have added the feature to work offline with Google docs to improve its usability. Same thing goes for cut/copy/paste operation of images. It is a standard operation on all PC based program as well as on Unix. IMHO it is one of the best features that helps users in moving images around. Network computing is great but it has to built upon the existing functions we are already are using and adding additional functionality not eliminating the existing one.
Besides that cut/copy/paste work for text within google doc writer and I think it should work for images too.
Thanks for clarification and reply. It helped but did not solve the problem. -
Inappropriate?I agree with jalam1001. But I will note that if you upload images (10 at a time) into one google doc (e.g., by pasting them into a MSWord doc), you can copy and paste them into another google doc. So it's kind of a half-solution.

Inappropriate? You can e-mail the .doc file as an attachment into google docs.

Inappropriate? What about Granting JavaScript access to the clipboard would that help?. This would require google docs's code to use the image it now has access to in the clip board and do an asynchronous upload, maybe?. I don't have much knowledge of borwser and javascript but should'nt that be possible.
