Google docs sucks!
I started working on a personal projct using Google Docs. I make and edit documents and spreadsheets. I love the idea that I can access and work on my files from any computer. But I think the implementation sucks. The environment and functions are pretty sloppy and full of bugs. The first problem is that it is very slow. When I drag and drop the file it takes a few seconds for the file to actually move. The word editor sometimes acts up. The sort function is the worst part. When you rename a file and resort sometimes it takes hours for the rename to have an effect on sort. Sometimes the sort doesn't work at all. There is no way making your sorting method permananent or default. There are many more bugs that you guys need to work out before this thing is up to speed.
Best of luck,
Iman

"When you rename a file and resort sometimes it takes hours for the rename to have an effect on sort"
Could you describe this behaviour in more detail? If it is reproducable could you give step-by-step instructions? Also what is the actual delay? If you really mean 'hours' then that would indicate a database error or something of that nature.
We do spend a lot of effort on improving speed. For instance I made a change last week which improved the speed of one function from 6.50 milliseconds to 5.22 milliseconds. That's the level of detail we are working on.

I'm sorry for the performance issues. We are obsessive about improving performance because we recognise that next to security it's the most important attribute.
However, the severe performance issues you describe are news to us. Could you tell us what type of Internet connection you have (modem, broadband, wireless) and aproximately where you live (country or continent)?
One issue we are aware of is if one renames or deletes a document in the editor, it will take a while for the document list to update on its own since it is in a different window. Pressing reload on the document list will make it catch up, as does restoring the list, or performing almost any other action.
Thank you for taking the time to tell us about these problems.

Inappropriate?I like Google docs but have to admit that I prefer zoho's online doc editor. www.zoho.com. None is as good as local document editors but both Google and Zoho are much better than nothing. I store important medical information for my mother and dad that is easily retrievable from anywhere.

Inappropriate?I cannot upload any files. Not .doc .docx .ppt .pptx. All say File Corrupted. Tried IE and Chrome. Will not be using Google docs in my classrooms as intended. That sucks.
