Google should create a dedicated Google Talk iPhone app using the push notifications in iPhone OS 3.0
I'm a big fan of Google Talk (mainly because of the fact it's based on XMPP) and I use the gTalk web based app on my iPhone all the time as a free alternative to SMS, but it would be even better if Google made a dedicated iPhone application for Google Talk, using the new push notifications in iPhone OS 3.0 to push new messages to iPhones when the Google Talk application is closed.

Inappropriate?I think this is a must for google talk.
In Venezuela, everybody loves blackberry (bb) because of the bb messenger (best known as the pin). Even 7 years old kids own bbs, or want to own one. All because of the ability to chat through the bb messenger avoiding the carrier SMS fees. They all prefer to pay a monthly fee for the bb data plan instead of pay for every message. Even more, they all love the ability to "chat" to several friends simultaneously, and the confidence they get from the "delivered and read" confirmations they get off every single message they sent with the bb messaging.
Bottom line, mobile messaging is huge. BB messaging is going to hit roof at some point because it only works among BBs. People want to have the freedom of buying whatever phone they like. So google talk ought to exploit its "openess" culture so they can develop google talk application for every phone (specially iphone), so they can become the "the facto" mobile messaging application. Google can do as well as bb on messaging but they can offer interoperability on top of it. Interoperability among different brands of phones (apple, nokia, lg, etc...) or different network technologies (wimax, gsm, cdma, etc...). -
Inappropriate? This going to be great to have it in my Iphone, at least i can chat with others for free!!

Inappropriate?Just moving over from Blackberry to iphone. I am a HUGE g talk user, and blackberry had an app that allowed me to always stay logged-in and online, and recieving incoming chats even when my phone would sleep.
I had sorta just assumed the same thing existed for iphone and am rather incredulous that it does not. I am sick with disappointment at the lack of this feature. How hard can this be? Please release! I LOVE GOOGLE and don't want to use trillian or frig or some other garbage to tap-in. I want a google built app. Please, please, please!
I’m frustrated
