grayed out tools
This is my first time using google docs. I have tried a number of time to start a new doc, but when I select a new document all the tools are shaded out and I am unable to write anything. The presentation worked and so did spread sheet but not docs. I have tried this for 2 days

Inappropriate?This sounds like a load failure. I've forwarded this thread over to the Docs team to see if there is a pattern of this failure in the current build.
In the mean time, it's critical to know which web browser you are using. And if you can, it would be really good to know if this behaviour is consistent using other browsers or computers.
