Why can't I save Google Docs presentations as PDFs or PowerPoint files?
The title says it all. I love the presentations component of Google Docs, but I hate to so be limited. I put in so much hard work in making the presentation, I don't want to be locked in to one format. I want to move my data around freely between PowerPoint and Google Docs Presenations. Why can't we export presentations as .pptx and .pdf files?

Inappropriate?Er, Microsoft Word already can make PDF files...
The reason why I want Google to output PDFs is so I don't have to go into my browser and turn off the headers/footers when I print, and so I know that it will look exactly the same every time, regardless of my operating system/fonts/font size/browser/DPI/screen resolution/etc. -
Inappropriate?True, but PDF is an open standard. Like I said earlier, Microsoft offers a PDF creator as a free add-in download for Office 2007, and OpenOffice, WordPerfect, and Apple's Mac OS X include PDF creation already built in. With the sheer number of free PDF readers and writers online -- including the one you linked to above -- it is obvious that Google need not partner with or pay Adobe to implement this feature.
I don't know, it's just a wish that would make Google Docs better. -
Inappropriate?Well you may get your wish soon!
While part of PDF standard was open under ISO, it was not the complete libray.
With a little push from Joséarchesi, founder of the recently created GNU PDF project, from the Linux community.

Adobe Systems Inc. on Jan. 29, 2007 announced that it has released the full PDF (Portable Document Format) 1.7 specification to AIIM, the Association for Information and Image Management. AIIM, in turn, will start working on making PDF an ISO standard.

Wikipedia will give the basic understanding of PDF formation and history.

note: use it as a guideline not final reference, for that go to original documentation.
It would be nice to get a Google Rep to chime in on this and shed some light when Google Docs have this functionality.
I’m confident

Inappropriate? It would be helpful if we could upload PDFs into Google docs too. This seems like a no-brainer to me.
-
Inappropriate?Well apparently, now you can at LEAST save as a PDF, though saving as a PPT would be fantastic.
I’m hopeful!
