Why can't I see a print-style layout in Google Docs?
Google Docs is a great idea, but is it very hard to get used to the idea of not seeing the print-style layout when I am doing word processing. I want to see the page. I want to be able to see how the text will flow, where the elements will be placed, where the pages will break, what the margins will be, etc. I'm all for new products and I love web-based services, but the word processing in Google Docs isn't even on my radar screen without this critical feature, and I'm sure many others feel the same.

Inappropriate?I'm with you. I've played around with Google Docs but they're just not quite up to snuff for me yet.

Inappropriate?Paper is for suckers :p.
As it goes, printing html content is still an area that is poor, for any application i've seen. I hear FlashPaper does a pretty good job.
What you want is MS Word and an FTP account.
Sorry, i have nothing useful to add. -
Inappropriate?Seems a decent option for taking notes while I'm in class. Other than that -- do they expect people to write substantial documents with this service?
Docs needs to be much more feature rich -- much more -- before it's of any use to me beyond casual notes.
Perhaps this could be used as the basis for a product that competes with MS OneNote.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I'm not a big fan of Google Docs either. You might also want to check out ThinkFree, who offers something similar: http://www.thinkfree.com/
