Inappropriate?HTML 5 will allow some of the Gears functionality. I am not sure how to take the absence of Gears in 3.5

erm.. tried installing from there and it has an error saying it's not compatible with 3.5.1

I have not tried it myself. Its sad if 3.5.1 breaks the compatibility ... :(

Rebeca, the page at gears.google.com doesn't show installation options for my FF 3.5 (for Mac OS X) yet. Should it?

Everyone: Unfortunately, 3.5.1 isn't compatible with Gears, but there are a couple of temporal workarounds: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtop...
For those who don't want to click on that link, here's what it suggests:
1. Get the Nightly Tester Tools extension to override compatibility.
or
2. [Not recommended] Go to about:config and set "extensions.checkCompatibility" to "false." Remember to set it back to "true" once Google updates Gears.

Inappropriate?They've updated it again (version 0.5.30.0) so there should be no need to try the workarounds mentioned before.

Great Rebeca, thanks! The only loose end now is the URL issue at gears.google.com. I can only update Gears using the link you've sent before: http://gears.google.com/?platform=mac... Nevertheless, kudos to you for the great support and the Gears team for the great tool. Take care.
