iPhone app behaving oddly
Worked fine for a while, but lately it's doing weird stuff.
When I check in, a tiny dialog pops up that just has a close button in it. In rapid succession, it disappears and pops up 3 times. I can click close to get rid of the last two, but not the first one.
The app then seems to hang, with the big spinner spinning, but never returning from that.
Closing the app and restarting it shows that I did check in, but I can't get any more items from checkins because of this.

Inappropriate?When this problem was occurring, there were 3G issues in the area. I wonder if it's due to timeout issues in the app??

Inappropriate?Hmmm. Let us take a look at that. Sometimes those timeout errors are 3G issues (and sometimes when 3G is so slow, Edge actually works better), which could be a carrier issue, but those I'm not sure about. We'll take a look and see if there's some funkiness, and we'll repost what we find.

Inappropriate?In the places I've been checking in, I'm always on Wi-Fi and I still see the issue.
However, when trying it about an hour ago, I was on 3G and see the same result.
This isn't intermittent, it started a few days ago, and now it happens every time. Don't think it's a timeout problem, as the close button dialogs pop up more or less immediately. Wish I could post a video of it, but I can get a screen capture if it'll help.
Also tried removing and reinstalling the app. No change. -
Inappropriate?Yeah, I agree with Otto and seems to be happening everywhere now. It only started a few days ago. Seriously affecting my collection of new items...

Inappropriate?I've been having the exact problem as Otto as well ever since I started playing last week and it happens whether I'm on 3G or on WiFi.

When I get this happen, I switch off the wifi and 3G - it then seems to work on EDGE. Not sure why though. -

I did notice that I had Twitter setting issues which I corrected from the "Settings" page on the website. (remove and then re-add Twitter profile)
Seems I can check-in without problems now. Good thing... I was running low on items. ;)

Wow, I did the same thing as well (removed both my Twitter and FB connections from the Gowalla web site) and then I could check in again without any errors! Nice work figuring this out.

Inappropriate?This started happening to me yesterday as well. It now happens on every check-in on both EDGE and Wi-fi. I'm on a 1st Gen iPhone. Thoughts?

Inappropriate?I went to Settings via the Gowalla website. I had previously entered my phone number in the following format: (###) ###-####. The form was now giving me an error that my phone number was invalid. I changed it to: ###-###-#### and saved the changes.
The iPhone app appears to check-in just fine now. I did not have to remove and re-add my FB or Twitter connections.

Just fixed my phone number (error - wrong format) in the settings and restarted my iPhone. I got 4 new items in my passport. Thnx for the solution!

Inappropriate?Well, it worked properly for the first time in a couple weeks today. No idea what changed, I changed nothing at all. Hoping it lasts.
