Do you have a Snow Leopard compatible version in the work?
Is there a Snow Leopard version in the works? Because currently GrabUp doesn't work with the latest build (10A394). The preference pane loads (after quitting and restarting in 32-bit mode), however, GrabUp simply doesn't work. The icon is present in the menubar, but that's about all it does. Thanks!

They can't even manage to moderate their support forum let alone fix their software.. I also purchased grabup a while back and it has been nothing but problems.. No matter what you do, you can never get in contact with them. I switched to tiny grab (obviously a company that CARES about their software) and have never been happier. I suggest anybody that wasted their money on grabup just cut their losses now and switch to tiny grab..

Inappropriate?please!

Inappropriate?I know that this isn't a direct fix for GrabUp, but there is currently a service for Mac called TinyGrab that is known to work with Snow Leopard. It's in a free beta at the moment and doesn't cost much when it comes out of that.
The only issue TinyGrab has with Snow Leopard is that because Apple hasn't decided on a default naming structure, it can't automatically upload grabs unless you've changed the naming structure to a custom one. By playing around with the system's preferences.
I know it's a workaround and a fix but if you want to check it out go to http://tinygrab.com - custom FTP uploading coming soon.

I purchased TinyGrab, and it is FAR superior. Thanks for the tip. The unfortunate thing is that the GrabUp website still sells itself as if its functional, when it is far from being so. TinyGrab is the way to go, with URL shortening, history, clearer communication, and a web interface too. -
Inappropriate?Strange, I built my own grabup clone last night and it's version-proof -- it grabs the system naming scheme for screenshots, whether it's been modified or not, and uploads accordingly.
Tested on tiger, leopard and snow leopard. Maybe I need to release this.... -
Please do, We'd love it! -
Inappropriate?Sounds like a beautiful piece of software you've built. Might you consider releasing it as open source via Google code?
-
I might, let me clean it up a bit and make it a bit less `rough` and then I'll put it up on github. Might take a while, not too much time right now :P -
Inappropriate?Actually did you guys know that Skitch has generally the same capabilities as grabup? It's free and supports SFTP however it does not auto upload or auto add to clipboard. You have to click a button but I have requested the feature in their feedback section. Plus with Skitch you can edit the picture.
I’m happy
-
I usually use Skitch to edit, then screenshot it with Grabup. I had no idea Skitch had FTP capabilities. Awesome. Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Yep, it's in settings under Webpost.

Then you have to click Webpost at the bottom of your snap or picture.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Hey guys, you need to fix this ASAP. People won't buy software that doesn't work on their machines.
I’m disappointed

Inappropriate?i switched to Tiny Grab - 10 gpb for lifetime, they include hosting (ad-free) and does the same job as grabup.
Works like a charm

By "lifetime" you mean "a guaranteed six months of access". Read the EULA before you spread misinformation. -
Inappropriate?"guaranteed six months of access" to the TinyGrab online service. After TinyGrab incorporates FTP into the application, if one goes Premium, they don't necessarily need to access the TinyGrab server.
We prefer to say, as our EULA reflects, "lifetime of the product". This is to cover us against any suits should TinyGrab, for whatever reason, fail several years into the future. -
Inappropriate?TinyGrab is nice, but I miss two features: SFTP uploads to my own server (I don't want my screen data at some third party as it might contain sensitive stuff) and the option to hide the menubar icon. I'm aware that both things will probably be fixed with the next major release, but for now, it's still not a full alternative to GrabUp.
However, GrabUp guys, how is the SL version coming? You're not very audible here...
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Let's forget the past, and continue, please release Snow Leopard support :).
I’m waiting :)

Inappropriate?I managed to create an automator workflow that perfectly imitates the simplicity and functionality of grabup pro. It works perfectly and it's completely free! :) Enjoy

This works great. You can also use shell script action to rename to a more generic file name:
md5name=$(md5 $1 | awk '{ print $4 }')
mv $1 md5name.png
echo $md5name.png
Or use SCP to replace FTP if you know how to build trust (no password):
BASE_URL='http://www.mydomain.ca/uploads/'
md5name=$(md5 $1 | awk '{ print $4 }')
scp -oBatchMode=yes $1 myuseraccount@mydomain.ca:uploads/$md5name.png
echo $BASE_URL$md5name.png
This works perfectly and is free and easy. -
Inappropriate?Hey, what's up? Three months since the original question — I also purchased the GrabUp Pro and I'm still waiting for an update that works on Snow Leopard.
I’m frustrated
-
Don't hold your breath. -
Inappropriate?GrapUp, what's up?
When will you support Snow Leopard? Why did I buy this app... I even don't get support for this stupid issue... I can't understand this... It isn't a lot of work to get this working on Snow Leo... or is it?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Grabup scans the desktop for files called "Picture X.png", because Snow Leopard changed the naming system of screenshots it broke Grabup.
All Grabup need to do is add one line to their source code and it should work with both OSs, but they've failed to do this. They're site is down and the URL is marked as a scam site. Twitter feed hasn't been updated for over 100 days and there's no sign of activity on GetSatisfaction.
You might want to start looking for alternatives.
I’m Apathetic

Inappropriate?Dude, GrabUp is out of business... Check the site...
http://grabup.com/
I think we shouldn't bother anymore.
A friend of mine is working on an AIR app which does basically the same.
Check it out: http://ninetynine.be/blog/shairup/
If you're looking for an automator way of doing this: Check out my workaround: http://nocreativity.com/blog/snow-leo...
Both are completely free :)
Good luck!
//edit: Chris seems to be a bit quicker ;) -
Inappropriate? There's always, of course, http://www.TinyGrab.com - but no doubt I'm going to get flamed for suggesting that.
Then again I do own the app. -
Inappropriate?Another free alternative is Skitch.com. Just configure the SFTP option. Don't like the filenaming though. The ability to markup screencaps is really cool.

Wauw, thanks for Skitch. I recognize Skitch from some screenshots above. I wasn't searching for alternatives (since I paid), but this alternative works very well. Okay, you need to make 5 clicks before your screenshot is online, but it's fast and you can draw circles on your screenshots. Handy! Thanks! -
Inappropriate? At least from my experience, don't bother with TinyGrab, although it is offered for free now, Crashes every time on startup for me (10.6.1)
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Let me say it like this. I enjoyed GrabUp for as long as it lasted. It was a great app. If I'd ever run into the developers I would give them a punch in the face, not for not caring about Snow Leopard, but not caring about their product or customers at all. These guys apparantly didn't deserve my money in the first place.
That being said, I've been beta testing Cloud App for a month now, and it's really great. The app sits in your menubar, and you can assign a global shortcut that can shrink URLs, upload files and folders. It will also track your uploaded files so you can see how many who've clicked your links.
It's not open to the public yet, but once it will, you'll wonder how you managed without. The apps website is http://www.getcloudapp.com/
You can read the support pages to get a list of it's features.
