Inappropriate?The way we have the product picker configured needs a rethink. Things like "milk", "salt", "bread"... common terms... pull back 50+ hits and we arbitrarily picked a number (50). Makes me think we need a bit more logic and less arbitrary guesses. Thanks!

Inappropriate?I'd recommend going with a google-suggest type solution populate a list-select, selecting 20 which match in order of popularity, and displaying item sorted by alphanum.
I had been working on a similar food picker which was based on publicly available USDA nutrition information, and found this worked pretty well.
You'll find that usage information makes thinks quite a bit easier to use for most people, but the google-suggest allows people to play around and see if alternatives seem worthwhile. -
