Please, a simple explanation of Grooveshark's legality!
I love Grooveshark Lite, but some of my friends are hesitant about playing the tunes I recommend. I've read your Terms & Conditions but they're full of "legalese." Instead, can you explain, in plain language, how and why Grooveshark is legal? I want my friends to enjoy it! Thanks

Inappropriate? There is a very elaborate answer on Yahoo, so I'll link it to you here.

I’m paranoid.

Inappropriate?I'm just one of the developers, and definitely not the one to explain our legal strategies (thus me not jumping in on this question previously), but I will note that the linked discussion on yahoo answers in is regards to the legality of purchasing/downloading music from Grooveshark, which is not a feature we currently support. Streaming music and selling music are two entirely separate issues.

Inappropriate?Aha :) So the question still remains unanswered. Would be neat if you could explain how a streaming service works legally for the user and the record companies. Especially when the music in question quite often is uploaded by the users themselves.
I’m curious.

Inappropriate?I guess I just trust the people behind grooveshark, since if it was illegal to stream music, grooveshark, as would a lot of other services, would already be terminatored of the web :p
I’m trusting it's legal
