Sharkbyte Library vs Grooveshark's "Songs in Library"
After installing Sharkbyte and directing it to my library, it found my 8,000+ song collection, However when I login at Grooveshark and goto "My Profile" It shows me only having 8 "songs in library"
My music collection is in a partitioned drive (D:\My Music). I first installed Sharkbyte on my C drive and directed it to my D drive; it found all my music but listed 0 "songs in library" on the website. Following a user's advice from the FAQ page Q&A, I uninstalled Sharkbyte and reinstalled it on my D drive. It still found all my music like before, but still the Grooveshark website still only shows 8 "Songs in Library"
I use ZoneAlarm firewall (but have Sharkbyte access set to allow it to act as a server) and AVG antivirus
Have I missed something here that is not allowing the Profile page to show all of my 8,000+ songs?
On an additional note... a user forum would be a great addition! It also allows user another way to connect/meet and expand their music horizons. Imagine, for example, Topic Threads sorted my music Genre. Also, forums often explain problems that the FAQ sheets miss.
Thanks in advance for the assist!

Inappropriate? How long did u wait till you went online to check out your songs? The new songs usually won't appear instantly, some take up to a day to appear online.
Also, did you wait till sharkbyte had a chance to upload all 8,000 songs? You can check your "Uploads" tab for the songs that it as uploaded and that it is currently uploading. -
Inappropriate?James,
First, thanks for replying so quickly!
I joined early Monday and installed Sharkbyte same morning. By Monday afternoon, no songs showed online, so following another user’s advice, I uninstalled Sharkbyte from my C: drive and reinstalled it where my music is located on my D: (partitioned) drive. I have been logged in since that time for about 30 hours out of 48. My "Songs in Library" has now been updated to 31 (out of my total 8,000+) so they are slooowly being uploaded. However, Sharkbyte does not show any files uploaded in the “upload” tab - I have obviously not used the "clean up" button. Any ideas on that?
Finally, I have Comcast hi-speed so it shouldn't be my connection. (I just ran a bandwidth speed test and currently show 20,216-22,631 KB/s download with 2,591-2,726 KB/s upload time. This is well under where my Motorola SB5120 is rated, but pretty good for Comcast.) Also, I just temporarily reset my Sharkbyte upload speed to 5,000 KB/s to max out my upload time!!!
Please let me know if there are any other tweaks I might try, I’ll keep you posted via this thread with my progress.
Thanks,
John (AKA JoshuaOneSix)
I’m getting somewhere, maybe?!

Inappropriate?OK there might be some problems.
Here is what I want you do to, close sharkbyte and delete the folder ("%USERPROFILE%\Grooveshark") just delete everything including the "Grooveshark" Folder
Also,
Restart your computer (or just the application) and re-add your library
Keep checking the "Uploads" tab, if you are getting errors or after a couple of hours, nothing comes up. Goto "%USERPROFILE%\Grooveshark\Log" and send me todays log (it ends in .html not .lck)
I will look it over and get back to you probably tomorrow night or something (I have school all day).
Email the log to:
Also, the uninstalling and reinstalling on drive D: I'm sorry to say, but that did nothing, no offense to anyone but that pretty much would have fixed any problem like yours (or any problem).
Get back to me on the success of the above steps.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?James,
Thanks again for the advice... I have attached the Log File as requested. Also here is what I have done and the results:
*Before taking any steps, I double checked website – still showed 8 files
*Did a complete uninstall and manual removal of all Grooveshark and Sharkbyte files and folders.
*Restarted Computer.
*Redownloaded the Sharkbyte installation file.
*Installed Sharkbyte and of course re-added library.
*Sharkbyte found 8746 music files.
*After about one hour of Sharkbyte re-adding the library and being online, I rechecked website.
“Songs in Library” now shows 8,017!!!!
*The Sharkfile "Uploads" tab is still not showing any files uploaded. Is the tab used to show when someone actually uploads a song they purchased?
*Finally, I sent you the Log File to your email as requested (as you will see, there are some errors in the Log File)
Before I left to headed off to bed, I logged in again to the website, and "Songs in Library" now shows 8,171!!!!
So problem definitely seems to be resolved, perhaps by looking at the Log File you'll be able to tell me what happened originally, but bottom line is I'm up and running.
Thanks,
John (AKA JoshuaOneSix)
I’m happy and thankful!

Inappropriate? As far as I know, the "Uploads" tab shows any file that was uploaded, which might not have been the case (looking throw your logs), if your files have already been uploaded before or by another user and their md5s matched.
All your songs have been "saved" (being executed in the save() function), and thus I don't think that they were uploaded, which can explain the Uploads tab being blank. However, if you are seeing all of your songs online then everything should be fine and they will start appearing on Grooveshark Lite within the next day or two.
As far as the "Audio Start" errors, those you can just forget about because those are pretty much just ID3 tag errors and they can be ignored.
Error Explanation: In certain applications, they save the ID3 tag in the beginning of the file (which they should) and then start the "song data" immediately after the ID3 tag "data" is finished. This is what Sharkbyte expects, but some of your songs had a gap in between the two "data sets" and thus Sharkbyte returned an error, but there was no problem with the saving of the file.
I hope that clears a few things up!
Enjoy! Glad that I could have helped.

Inappropriate?hey guys - i'm a gs developer (although i don't work on the sharkbyte team)
1) @james you rock
2) @josh the uploads tab does indeed only show files being transferred. this is a different process than sharkbyte's library scan. the initial scan just transmits the song metadata (artist, album, etc) rather than the actual file, so that we can display on the site which songs are in your library. for the purposes of efficiency on our end, there is some delay in library data import, and this is likely what you perceived.
thanks so much for your patience and diligence in using the system! that you guys had this interchange independently of us really validates all our efforts to create a killer service.
I’m thrilled

Inappropriate?Ah! So it was changed. It used to also show the songs that were cached. But as more songs were added, it looks like there is not as much caching as before or does the application just not show the "cached" files as it used to?
And Thanks! cgs
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?pardon my imprecision; by "transfer" i meant both purchased downloads by other users and file caching -- it should show both of these in the uploads tab with some indication of which is going on
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Between the two of you, I not only have a functioning GS account, but I more fully understand hows it works.
Also, thanks for explaining what is going on using "intermediate comp. terminology" Had you been using programming or developer language I would have been lost two or three words into your responses.
I wish Grooveshark great success as they continue on! May they finally be the bridge between P2P downloads and starving musical artists!
I’m thoroughly thrilled
