Getting Started
I love the idea of Growl, but have no idea where to get started in setting up apps and notifications. Any advice for a n00b?

Inappropriate?I got started with Growl when it was installed with Adium. A bunch of applications support it out of the box. I believe all you have to do to get started is launch an app, and you should then see a growl notification that that app has registered with Growl. Most of the time configuration is done within the Growl System Preference pane, but some apps (Adium, for instance) have additional configuration for Growl in thier own preferences.
Some apps that support Growl are: Adium, Coda, Colloquy, Handbrake, NewsFire, Transmit, and Twitterrific.

Inappropriate?Hmmm, so the apps need to support Growl. That's very helpful to know. I'm running handbrake, twitterific ad NetNewsWire which support Growl. I'll have to try out some of the others, though I was hoping it would tie in to my mail client (Entourage). Thanks Cameron!
