Growl only works in one account

So, I tried to install Growl in my normal use account. The installer runs fine, says install was successful. It opens System Preferences, I click the Growl icon... And nothing. It sits there "Loading Growl..." for minutes, and then eventually just goes to a blank pane (see image). After five or six attempted install/uninstall cycles, I tried making a new account and installing it there. Growl loads and works perfectly in this new account. I switch back to my normal one and try to load it there, and still nothing. Anyone have advice?
