Hahlo iPhone native app in the works?
Do you intend on creating an iPhone firmware 2.0 native app?
This could the problem with slow EDGE connections. I personally don't use hahlo.com just because it's too slow.

Inappropriate?I won't say no, but I wont say yes just yet either. Before this can even be a possibility I need to learn Cocoa, which at the moment I don't have a great amount of free time to do.
As for you edge issue, I have plans to setup a separate "EDGE friendly" version of Hahlo, which will remove most images to keep load size to a minimum, but again finding sufficient time to finish this off is not always easy.

Inappropriate?I love hahlo but Safari's chrome is just too much. Also, if you save a link on your home screen, it will reload the page even if it's open. What if you made an app that just wrapped the browser, had no chrome, and loaded hahlo? That wouldn't take too much time but I would address all the shortcomings of the current setup.

Apple won't allow apps that repurpose Safari without adding significant changes for fear it would "confuse the user". http://geopherlite.blogspot.com/ - this guy had his app rejected for exactly this reason even though it would have been a pretty suitable use. -
Inappropriate? There was apparently going to be a "full-screen" mode for webapps in the 2.0 update, but it doesn't look like they put it in, this would have hidden the safari chrome which would have been great. When I find some time, I might see if I can find anything about why its not there, or if they chanfge the way it has to be done.

Inappropriate?I'm surprised some ninja cocoa master isn't interested in helping out with this (or maybe you want to keep it in house, as it were). I love using Hahlo on my iPhone (and I have it as a Fluid menu bar app on my MacBook) but there is so much more that can be added in a native app. Ability to set location, upload photos to TwitPic with posts, that sort of thing. I use the "near me" button a lot and would love for it to tie to the iPhone location services. At the minute I need to launch Twitterific or similar just to set location and then go back to Hahlo to see the near me. It would also be awesome to integrate Twittervision like funcitonality to get a Google maps view of near me and see Tweets coming in around your location. Just a few ideas that would need a native app to implement, but in the meantime I'll be happy singing the Hahlo praises to everyone.

Inappropriate?I work with a couple of ninja cocoa masters, but its more about finding the time, if none of us had real jobs it wouldn't be an issue, but we do.
You can set your update your current location from the settings screen in Hahlo, sure it doesn't tie into the iphone location services but its better than nothing. -
Inappropriate? While a native app might be use to have, I'm pretty satisfied with the web app, as you can roll out new revisions without having to go through Apple's draconian process -- and I don't have to re-sync my phone to load new versions of an app (lame!).
I'm perfectly content with the web app (though it has a few quirks); seems like an app like Twitterrific or Twinkle would work well for other folks who want the extra speed/native-like UI. -
Inappropriate? The only problem I have with Hahlo the web app is having to login every so often, and having Safari reload the page every time. I know this is beyond Dean's control, and heck one of Hahlo's strengths is that it doesn't crash like *every other Twitter app*

Inappropriate?Hi Andy, thanks for the feedback.
Prior to the hosting switch sessions "should" have lasted 7 days without the need to login again (even though I know it wasn't always the case...) Since I haven't customised anything on the new host yet, its likely that logins will be required more frequently until I change the config...which I will do once everything has been nice and stable for a while.
And I totally agree about the Safari reloading thing, it truly is a pain. -
Inappropriate?hahlo's performance on a 3g network is more than adequate. if i (or need to) go offline, i tend to trust my tweets to ping.fm via email.
