Bug in monthly budget
I have the following problem:
When I add a monthly budget to an expense account, this seems to be broken.
Steps to reproduce:
1) select an expense account
2) enter monthly budget of e.g. 100 EUR
3) select another epense account
4) enter monthly budget of 400 EUR
5) select the expense account from step 1)
6) the info dialog shows 400 EUR (instead of the correct 100 EUR)
7) save the moneyGuru document
8) the XML file does not contain any "budget" attribute somewhere
9) restart moneyGuru
10) the entered amount of monthly budget disappeared
This can be reproduced several times. I noticed that sometimes a "budget" attribute appeared in the XML file, but also with wrong values.

Inappropriate?I cannot reproduce the bug (that would mean that the budget feature wouldn't work at all, that would be kind of embarrassing :) ), so the cause of the failure you experience must be an indirect cause. The Console (in /Applications/Utilities) might have some clues.
Could you launch the Console and see if there is a moneyGuru related message popping up when you press on "Save" in the Account Info dialog after having changed the monthly budget? -
Inappropriate?Unfortunately, there is no message output on the Console. Nothing gets saved when I press save, even when I try to set budgets on different expense accounts.
I use account groups as well. Maybe some screenshot would be of help? -
Inappropriate? This is strange. Gotta go in bug hunting mode. First, to make sure: Do you use the latest version of moneyGuru (1.4.1)?
Second, can you try to set budgets in a minimal document?
1. Create a new document.
2. Add an asset.
3. Add 2 expense accounts.
4. Set budgets for each of them and see if the misbehavior is still happening. -
Inappropriate?1) Of course it is the latest version.
2) minimal example document works as expected.
I even tried with some umlauts in the names, and by using account groups.
Now I'm not sure how to proceed on this bug. Anything else what I could do to help debugging? -
Inappropriate? At the moment, I'm not too sure how to proceed to locate the source of the problem. I'll take a look at the code later today to try to give me ideas about possible causes of the bug so I can ask you what to try next.
Anything special that you can think of about your document except the fact that it contains umlauts? -
Inappropriate?I think I might have found the cause of the misbehavior. One way for the budget amount not to be correctly saved is to type the amount and then click on the Save button without ever leaving the focus from the budget field. Pressing the return key makes the data save as expected, only clicking the save button causes the problem.
So this is definitely a bug which I'll fix asap. Do you think that it could be what caused the problem on your side as well? -
Inappropriate?I've tried it with explicitly leaving the field, setting an expense account and clicking in the expense name text field, then hitting <enter>. This worked as you described. Thanks for this quick workaround. Seems to behave as expected now.
I'll do further testing with your app, if you don't care ;)</enter>
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? This issue has been fixed in the version 1.4.2 which I have just released.
