Upcoming: dupeGurus 2.6, 5.5 and 1.5

I'm currently working on the next major dupeGuru versions, which will feature:

  • Small file threshold for the standard edition

  • Priority weighting

  • Speed improvement when removing duplicates from the result (it gets slow when you have a lot of duplicates. The speed bump is especially noticeable in OS X).

  • AIFF support in ME.

  • More progress feedback.

  • Warn about discarded matches.

Small file threshold: in the standard edition, you often have those pesky tiny little files that clutter your results and happen to be duplicate. In some cases, you have a lot of them, and it also slows down the scan. This threshold preference allows you to completely ignore all files smaller than X KB.

More progress feedback: Sometimes (but more in PE), the scanning is stuck at a place where it has to go through a lot of work, and the progress bar seems to be stuck. Often, applications add to their feedback something like "Processing <filename>". I can't really do that, because progress based on filenames is only a small part of the scanning process. Most of it is fuzzy matching and fuzzy grouping. However, users have to know that dupeGuru is not frozen or something, so I will add feedback like "X files matched", "X groups created".</filename>
