Upcoming: moneyGuru 1.1
I'll start adding discussion threads about features in major upcoming versions as well as links to preview versions. So here's my first.
moneyGuru 1.1 upcoming features:
Pie Charts: Next to the balance sheet and income statement, there is going to be a pie chart which will show relative importance of accounts balance (for assets/liabilities) or cash flow (for income/expenses).
Account Exclusion: Next to each account and group in the balance sheet and income statement, there are going to be include/exclude buttons, allowing you to see data only for certain accounts.
Income, Expense and Transfer filter: In addition to the Unassigned filter on top of the transaction and account tables, there's going to be filters to only see income, expense or transfer between asset/liability accounts.

Inappropriate? Here's a link to a preview version containing the pie charts:

Inappropriate?Great to see you working on this, Virgil.
I'm not a great user of pie charts, but the account exclusion feature would be very useful, as I have many closed and dormant accounts, which at the moment I have to put in a separate account group to keep them hidden.
I would also like to be able to drag the accounts into my preferred order rather than have them listed alphabetically.
Any timescale on scheduled transactions and forecasting yet?
Incidentally, I'm not seeing the re-sizer bar you show in your picture.
I’m hopeful this will be a great application.

Inappropriate? Thanks for giving it a try Derek. I removed the sizer bar after I took the screenshot above. I though that with the pie chart, the size bar has a clunky look. Without it (if there is no scrollbar for the sheets), it's all white and cute. I figured nobody wants to resize the bottom chart. Did I figure wrong?
About account exclusion: This feature is not meant to hide accounts, it is meant to remove them from the totals and from the charts. The excluded accounts/groups would not be invisible. They would be grayed and amount-less. My opinion is that groups do a good job of taking care of old accounts. You move them in there, you keep the account closed, and it's just one "Old" line in the report (well, two if you have old liabilities). Id be interested to know why you think grouping is not adequate for this. Do these "Old" groups really bother you?
As for alphabetic sorting, I personally like it this way. I don't like having to organize how the accounts are ordered. But I guess it should be possible to have it both ways: sort alphabetically unless explicitly told otherwise. I'm adding it to the to-think-about list.
Scheduled transactions are the next major feature on the roadmap (moneyGuru 1.2) -
Thanks, Virgil.
I drag the bar so as to reduce the bottom panel to a minimum as the graph is of limited use at the moment. It's not a problem in Net Worth, but in Account view I like to see as many of the transactions as possible.
I see what you mean by account exclusion now. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with account grouping.
I'm not overly concerned about alphabetic sorting. It's just that if I could I would. Put it in your to-do sometime maybe never list. :) -
Inappropriate?Alright, the lack of sizer is not a problem then. I will add view options to hide the charts altogether.
Another preview, this time with income, expense, transfer filters

Inappropriate?Yet another preview, with account exclusion. Also, a significant speed improvement for the profit & loss graph computation (could get rather slow when trying to toggle account exclusion).

Almost done!
(If you're wondering what's wrong with the total in the screenshot, that's because my system currency is CAD, so it's a Canadian dollars total)
I’m thinking Python rocks
