Deleting Projects
Having just foolishly imported my basecamp data 3 times I'm now unable to delete projects. I can archive them though so it's no headache or preferably I can flatten the whole installation and start from scratch - Which I'll probably do...
It would be cool to delete projects though, as it irks me to see archived projects that I know that I want to have deleted.
This probably leads me onto the basecamp import functionality, but I'll save that for another time when I'm free to more eloquently express my ideas.

Deleting projects has been implemented in 1.9 which is the next release.
We are still working on ideas to improve the reliability of the process (for example, you can't delete projects through the API right now to ensure this doesn't happen by mistake) and also looking at implementing per project back-up in 2.0 so you can "backup and delete" old projects.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Sorry about the annoyance here Jamie. I can appreciate that being able to delete projects, especially when you have migrated from another system (probably testing), is quite an important bit of functionality.
This is a feature we have in the roadmap for 2.0. As with many others, the only reason we could not get this into 1.x currently was an issue of prioritisation and time.
Because deleting a project effectively deletes all issues and metadata and changelogs related to that project, we wanted to make sure we got the design/permissions/functionality of this feature thought out well and finalised before we set it free.
Depending on what we hear from customers, we might even fast-track this. -
Inappropriate?Thanks for the reply Sarat.
I'm not actually annoyed ( it takes a lot more to annoy me - such as a babies that smell of cheese and butter shoving pasties into their mouths )
I would say this for a fast track, this one gets my vote. Flattening fixx is not problem for me, but it may be for someone else.
Cheers,
Jamie.

Well then i can tell you I swear I never shoved a pastie in my mouth and never smelt of cheese and butter :) -
Inappropriate? While implementing this, will it be possible to add an backup/export option prior to deleting a project? For example as 'SQL' dump or XML (just an idea that comes in mind when reading this issue) This way it's possible to backup/archive all project-data before actually deleting it from the system.
Not a big issue.. just an idea -
Inappropriate?1.8 comes with the ability Backup/Restore an entire instance of fixx to XML although I appreciate it isn't exactly what you are asking for here.
Backing up individual projects can be a bit of a pain due to all the foreign key relationships that need to be looked at. This is definitely on the cards but might be one for well past 2.x -
