Inappropriate?I don't think toggling Ping.fm tweets on/off is a bad idea, but I would prefer it to be more automated. For instance, how about HootSuite not send any tweets to Ping.fm that include @ replies or retweets? The only things left would be actual updates (what you're doing/ranting about at the moment) and hashtags (which I don't have a problem tweeting). That would be AWESOME!! -
Inappropriate?I definitely agree that @replies shouldn't be included. That's one reason I haven't enabled Ping.fm support for my account. Retweets and hashtags are fine by me; I ping those all the time.
Also, we need the ability to set different Ping.fm keys for each profile, but that's a different issue... :) -

Inappropriate?I just filed feedback on this same subject, and afterwords it suggested some other topics like this one.
I am in total agreement with mphcoach. I have started using HootSuite to actual read stuff more now that 2.0 is so customizable (I only got it yesterday, and it is great!). But yesterday I responded to several things from my main Twitter account, and then last night realized that they had shown up as Facebook status updates (and Linked In, etc) via Ping.
I can't use HootSuite for that account if that is going to continue to happen. I'd rather see Ping.fm be added like a separate account, where I can check it if I want my Tweets to be sent to Ping.

Inappropriate?+10 This is DEFINITELY needed! I don't want every post going to Ping.fm that's tacky.... especially posting @replies through Ping.fm, it just makes no sense to me. I want to choose which tweets get sent through Ping.fm.

We've been bouncing some ideas around regarding Ping.fm (as well as options for direct-posting to other networks), and we've got some great things planned.
It's all in the ideas/pencil sketch phase at the moment, and these changes won't be in our next round of updates... but this is something we will be working on soon.

Inappropriate?Add me to the list of supporters for this idea. It's very frustrating to have to pull the ping.fm application key out before sending something I just want to go to Twitter, just to have to put it back when I want my post to go everywhere. This functionality would put the icing on the cake for what I consider the best Twitter app available.
