Inappropriate? When I try to refresh my group nothing happens and I often lose display of all the tweets from my group.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hi Christopher,
There looks to be something going on between us and Twitter regarding the group functionality. Our guys are sorting it out.
Thanks,
Moni

Inappropriate?Any update on the status of this? Love the group feature, but am having the same issue of not all group members appearing at all times!
I’m confused
-
The tweets are collected based on the twitter search api. See if you can find the missing tweets through twittersearch. If you cannot find them there, then they will not show up in your search groups either. -
It's a sporadic issue - sometimes groups simply won't load either, sometimes they only load 1-2 members, & sometimes they work just fine. I'm assuming since they use the search api there's either an issue with the connection there or something wrong with Twitter search itself? -
Twitter has been a little up and down lately. I think everything is coming together though - all the denial of service related issues have been sorted out. Keep us posted if you notice any issues... -
I'll keep watching it - but it is clear that it isn't pulling all the information all the time & I'm still getting "No Results Found" quite often (refreshing the column multiple times usually helps, but not always). -
Inappropriate?Hi dzumini--
We're having issues getting data from Twitter sometimes, due to countermeasures they put in place after the DDoS attacks. This is affecting Groups columns and Search columns.
Twitter is aware of the issue and they have a fix. We're just waiting on them to apply this fix and release it. Hopefully they're able to do this soon! -
Inappropriate? This is the main reason I like HootSuite over Seesmic web. Hope this is fixed soon!

Inappropriate?Reposted from another thread - this one seems to be more active. Well 7 days more active anyway... I also have people that aren't showing up in groups - here's the scoop:
For the person in question:
I can see her profile in Hootsuite
I can see her tweets on twitter.com/her_user_name
I can see her tweets are not protected (no little lock icon)
I can't see her tweets in the groups I added her to
If I click on "View More Tweets from ..." on the Hootsuite profile I get a blank black "Search results" display.
I can see her tweets on the Hootsuite Home Display column.
I tried the search.twitter.com and sure enough, she doesn't show up in the "from:her_user_name" search.
This seems like an impasse - how does this get resolved? I got onto Hootsuite specifically to follow this group. I really like the tool so far but this is frustrating. Please don't make me go to Seesmic.
thanks for your help - j -
Inappropriate?@eljefe
Our Group columns use the public timeline to find tweets from the users you select.
If the user doesn't show up at all on Twitter Search, that means that Twitter may be blocking their updates from appearing on the public timeline.
Twitter does this with suspicious accounts. if the user feels they have been blocked from the public timeline in error, they should contact Twitter about this. -
Inappropriate? She does show up in my "home feed", she does not show up in my groups. I have since identified several other users that I would like to group that have the same issue. It would be extremely unlikely that I will somehow get them all to contact Twitter and solve this problem for you.
I sincerely submit that this is YOUR problem and you need to solve it. Twitter has no incentive to solve it for you, and most users who can't see their friends and colleagues on HootSuite will vote with their feet rather than take the time to raise the issue. -
Inappropriate?Hi eljefe--
We use Twitter's public search to create groups at the moment. We thought about filtering the Home stream to create groups, but this has its own set of problems once you follow more than a few hundred people (tweets start going missing, etc).
We're thinking about good ways to work around this problem, but it's tricky if we can't rely on either data set from Twitter.
Both ways of building searches have problems... and we didn't realize just how many people Twitter has blocked from the public search stream. It's kinda surprising. -
Inappropriate?Reliability of the group column is extremely important when you're following lots of people.
I never miss a single tweet in Seesmic Desktop's Group column. Are the Adobe AIR apps using a different API call, I wonder?
I’m unsure
-
Inappropriate? That's the thing... my friends who use Seesmic are having no problem. It would seem that a solution is possible.
My goal was to use a web based app so I could access from any computer. I'm hoping that this can be resolved soon! Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Hi guys--
It's the same API, but Twitter has IP-based filters. We're making a TON of requests from a certain set of IPs (whereas with a desktop app, it's only your IP sending the request), so we're hitting an upper limit.
Twitter is getting it sorted out for us, and this should be resolved shortly, as soon as they roll out the latest version of the code to their search servers.
Thanks.

Inappropriate?Jeff,
Thanks for the clarifications. This is indeed interesting - it means web-based apps are at a disadvantage compared to desktop apps, at least at present. -
Inappropriate?Just an FYI,
Twitter confirmed this AM that they've solved the API issue on their end. We shouldn't be rate-limited anymore, so you won't see the "couldn't connect to Twitter" message as frequently. Whew! -
Inappropriate?Glad to see a solution in progress - what's the prognosis?
-
Inappropriate?Hi eljefe--
This is something we're continuing to think about.
It's a complicated problem. We know our current solution has some advantages and disadvantages, and we also know that other apps' approaches to groups have different pluses and minuses.
This is not something that's easy to do in Twitter's API, and we're continuing to work at figuring out the best ways to handle groups.
Thanks for the feedback.
