Do you mean a URL shortener? HootSuite has one built in, called ow.ly.
When you create a new tweet through HootSuite, you'll see a URL field. Enter your URL there and click "Shrink it" to create a unique ow.ly URL.
When your tweet is sent, the URL will be automatically appended to the end of your tweet.

NOT a url shortener - it's easy to see that exists - I mean a text abreviator - if you havent I would suggest firing up Tweetdeck and comparing features. Tweetdeck has the text abbeviator but as an app Tweetdeck runs locally - trying get stuff OFF my box and use more web apps - thx -

Inappropriate?The Tweet shortener helps A LOT - PeopleBrowsr handles the problem differently it breaks up up the Tweet into parts but I dont personally care for it. I believe you and the default Twitter interface at least say how many characters are left - but the abbreviator is pretty slick - thx
