Missing Tweets in Group Column
Trouble receiving tweets in a "Group" column in Hootsuite. Users added to the list are tweeting, but they are not showing up in the column after repeated refreshes. Can't figure out why this would happen. Happens in multiple custom group columns. Is there a limit to the number of members I can have in the group?

Inappropriate?Hi Damian,
1) Are the users protecting their updates?
2) Do the user's tweets show up on search.twitter.com if you do a "from:username" search?
If they are protected or if the username search doesn't come up on search.twitter, it won't come up in Hootsuite, as that is where we get our information from.
Thanks,
Moni
Hootsuite -
Inappropriate?hi Moni - I have the same problem. For the person in question:
I can see her profile in Hootsuite
I can see her tweets on twitter.com/her_user_name
I can see her tweets are not protected (no little lock icon)
I can't see her tweets in the groups I added her to
If I click on "View More Tweets from ..." on the Hootsuite profile I get a blank black "Search results" display.
I can see her tweets on the Hootsuite Home Display column.
I tried the search.twitter.com and sure enough, she doesn't show up in the "from:her_user_name" search.
This seems like an impasse - how does this get resolved? I got onto Hootsuite specifically to follow this group. I really like the tool so far but this is frustrating.
thanks for your help - j

try adding the user to a list -
Inappropriate?Im having the same issue with my account - I use the account daily and its not protected, but it wont show up in the search.

Inappropriate?Same problem here... Person's tweets are not protected. Their tweets though are not showing up in search.twitter.com
-
Inappropriate?Same here.
I can see the people's tweets in my home feed, but they don't show up when I try to add them to groups. The groups have less than 50 ppl in them.
I've even tried putting them in groups by themselves, and it still doesn't work.
I've deleted the group columns, logged in/out of Hootsuite, deleted my cache... to no avail.
Their updates are not protected.
Using Hootsuite 2 with Opera 10 on WinXP SP3

Inappropriate?Having the same issue; first noticed it with people who protect their updates. On that note, I realize groups use the search function to compile the column but if it doesn't show protected users' updates, then it's technically a broken or half-busted feature. :( Because of that, I don't even bother using the tabs, and that's a waste!
I’m disappointed.

Inappropriate?Same thing here. One group I have is "Air Carriers" and @UnitedAirlines doesn't show up. Another is for "Aviation News" and @AvWeekBenet tweets never display in HootSuite2.0 group. Frustrated in Richmond....
I’m frustrated
-
I can't get @UnitedAirlines to show up in my group either. very annoying! -
Inappropriate?Am I understanding this?
1. All user ids show in Hootsuite Home feed [becasue this comes from Twitter.com]
2. When we set up a group in Hootsuite, the search for user ids is done on something called Twitter Search [i.e. not Twitter.com].
3. All user ids in Twitter.com are not automatically available in Twitter search.
If above is correct, the question surely should be "how doe we get the user ids we want to follow in a group column on Hootsute into the Twitter Search API. -
the users can contact twitter to see if they have been blocked or change their twitter settings so their tweets go to the public stream. -
Thank you Moni, hopefully a final 2 questions, 1. Is the public stream the Twitter Search API? 2. Is the Twitter Search API different to the stream you look at in Twitter.com? -
There are two kind of streams, one stream is twitter search, the other is authenticated stream (friends timeline, mentions, replies...) -
Inappropriate? If they were blocked, why do they *sometimes* show up? They aren't private either.
-
we'll take a look. have you noticed this happening much? -
Only the once and by accident... I don't typically compare what I'm seeing with another twitter app so it may be happening when I don't realise -
Inappropriate? So, why aren't tweets in groups simply pulled from the Twitter feed, along with the search feed?
Rhetorical question of sorts, as I assume it's because that would require more processing by HootSuite, instead of offloading the processing to someone else.
That said, it's rather lame. The reason I switched to HootSuite is because it looked like it was a better way to manage Twitter. Do I really have to look for another Twitter client?
At the very least, let us know about this upfront. (My apologies if I've missed this notification.) -
Inappropriate?I migrated from Tweetdeck to Hootsuite, liking the general presentation and the stats. However as a result of this problem now have to use both,
Ultimately i suspect i will go back to Tweetdeck and manage the stats with a different tool. -
Inappropriate?I have the same problem. As far as I can tell so far it's just a problem with one person... their tweets appear in the home feed but not in the group. I've tried everything that other people have mentioned here.
I’m frustrated
-
Where I discover this happening with Hootsuite, i go back to Tweetdeck and put this user in a column there. it is a pain to have to use 2 Twitter Clients - but they are free and perhaps we can not therefore expect perfection. -
Inappropriate?Sometimes the msgs post in the group column and other times they do not. Why are the msgs posting normally in the home feed, but not posting regularly in the group column?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Same problem here. Friend posts, they do not protect their tweets, but I never see it in the column where I output people in the 'Friends' group. This is sad, turns out I've missed quite a few tweets.
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?I now use both Hootsuite and Tweetdeck. Hootsuite for the majority as I prefer it and then as I identify User IDs that Hootsuite does not pick up, I follow them on Tweetdeck. It's a pain.
I guss an alternative might be to use the new "lists" function in Twitteritself but have not checked this out -
Inappropriate?Same issue here! HootSuite seemed to be a good choice but this annoying bug makes me wanna go back to echofon, the whole reason to use hootsuite is to create groups if the groups are not working, why use this app then?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Good point. For me I like the look and feel of Hootsuite than Tweetdeck and therefore prefer to use it first and then occasionally pick up the missing people on Tweetdeck.
One can also live in hope that Hootsuite might corect this problem - if Tweetdeck can.......
There has been no recognition [to my knowledge] from Hootsuite that they are even aware of the problem. -
Inappropriate? This is a real bug. If you reload the entire page the columns get reloaded, but reloading each one does not have any effect , except the Home Feed
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'm also having the same issue. I've found that if I go into the Edit screen for each column, and then click the Save Changes buttons, it rebuilds the column and I can then see all the missing tweets.
Overall I love the functionality of Hoot Suite, but this bug is too much effort to manage. Guess I'm back to Tweet Deck until this is straightened out.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? This bug is honestly driving me crazy. I thought today that I might be able to get the functionality back by rebuilding my "group" from scratch, but no go. The group does not refresh at all.
-
We're looking into this. In the meantime, try hard refreshes. -
Thanks Moni. The hard refreshes do the trick. It's just so difficult to keep it up throughout the day! :) -
clicking on the tab itself also should work. -
Very cool, that's a little faster! -
Moni - I converted all of my groups to Twitter lists and this issue seems to be resolved :) -
Inappropriate?Just checking, what is a "hard refresh" and which tab is one to click on?
-
Inappropriate?Anthony - you click on the tab that you want to refresh. If you only have one tab I believe it would be named the same as your twitter handle.
-
Inappropriate?Ah ha got it thank you and that is called a "hard refresh" is it? And, is that the same as hitting one's browser refresh button?
-
Yes indeed - that is the same as hitting the browser "refresh" button albeit without reloading the whole page - so a tiny bit faster. -
Inappropriate?Ive also had this problem but have found even if you do a search on twitters website it doesnt always show.
Their search can be slow at times and there isnt really anything hootsuite can do as they appear to be using the twitter api to search.
I’m indifferent
-
Try converting your group to a Twitter list and see if that works! -
Inappropriate? The new functionality using Twitter lists works great, and is a great replacement for Hootsuite Group columns - thanks HS!
I’m satisfied
-
Inappropriate?Twitter lists worked for me. Am happy to give up buggy Hootsuite groups for Beta Twitter lists!
I’m thankful
