I have the same problem and I'm not behind a firewall. Everything else works normally. I also replied with more details on this post.

So you're not behind a firewall... Hmmm.. We will continue to look into this issue.

Can you let us know your IP (send us an email at info at hootsuite.com or send us a DM if you won't want to post it here).

A couple of other questions about this:

* What ISP do you use?
* Do you use your ISP's DNS servers, or do you use other DNS servers?

We use Comcast as our ISP... don't know if this matters but one of my friends about 60 miles is also on Comcast as well, but he can get my links to show up on his computer, we have tested it on 3 computers at our home none of them work, but a week or so ago it worked just fine...

I found out this problem for me was happening because we had changed our phone service to Vonage... hope this helps?

When I removed the internet connection from the Vonage router... it worked just fine after that... I had a friend check my links on his computer, that is how I found my problem when I tried this option.

I had this same problem earlier where I posted a link then with a secondary account I tested the link and it never loaded my blog. Before I could repost my tweet with a direct link to my blog someone retweeted my tweet with the ow.ly link. I clicked on that one and it loaded fine. This was all from the same location, same firewall. It seems like it can be intermittent. I had a few complaints about an ow.ly link of mine not working a few days ago which is the only reason I tested it today. I'll keep tabs on IP addresses and ISP's.

Jeff, I was onsite at my client and they do not have any sort of VOIP on their network (we manage everything for them). It was intermittent and allowed me to load the same link a bit later.

It was actually me posting with the ow.ly links and then trying to verify they worked as I have had complaints. As much as I love the tracking feature I'm hesitant to use ow.ly if no one can get to my link :-/ I still want to help you guys track this down but I might start using my personal account as having bad links in my work twitter makes me look bad.

I'm getting the same issue, I'm sending out links from one of my clients' accounts and I'm getting DMs back saying that they cannot open the links. And I can't hope that my client's customers will have the right ISP or firewall settings just for a link to open. I have had no compliant when using tinyurl.com, bit.ly, snurl.com or any of the other services. I have been attempting to move my clients over to HootSuite but links and link tracking are a very big deal to me and my clients.

Finally, ow.ly links are working for me. Something changed within the last 1 or 2 days.

Just got notification that links aren't working for two of my followers. :(

It worked 3 days ago, but now it's back to doing what it always did and showing a network timeout.

I get:

500 Internal Server Error. Application Error, an error occurred while processing your request, please contact our site administrator if this error occurs again. Please accept our sincere apology for any inconvenience caused!

When i checked from hootsuite it worked but directly from twitter 'twas not the case.
