Problems posting throug RSS
I can't post my feeds throug Hootsuite, I don't know why 'cause it was posting without problems before the Twitter attack. The problem is: "Feeds must be configured so that posted items report a date/time."
I nedd some solution, thanks. The URL for the feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/lagrann
Thanks a lot.

Inappropriate?Hi Jose--
Can you let us know which Twitter account you're sending the feed to, and how often you have HootSuite set up to check the feed?
Thanks for helping us troubleshoot this. -
Inappropriate?Hi Jeff.
I post to http://www.twitter.com/lagrann. I set up Hootsuite to check the feed every 3 hours, and every hour to see it works.
Also I post to ping.fm to update my Linkedin and Facebook.
Thanks. -
Inappropriate?I have this problem too. I set up an RSS to post to @socialmediatek on Sunday, and since then only 3 updates have been sent. It's been set to check every two hours...
I’m concerned

Inappropriate?@NetWebLogic -- Can you also let us know what the RSS feed URL is?
Thanks. -

Hi Jeff, any luck checking this problem out? I'm sad to say that I'll need to switch back to twitterfeeed soon as all week only 4 posts have been sent.... :( -
Inappropriate?@Jose--
We looked into this, and it looks like that feed doesn't have date/time publication date tags on the posts.
Are you able to modify the RSS feed and add this information to each post?
Perviously, we may not have been validating the feed as well before allowing you to add to HootSuite. Now we're doing some of that sanity checking up front, which is why you can no longer add that feed. -
Inappropriate?Hello, yesterday I added a
tag on the RSS with no luck, the RSS has a date/time publication now we have a
tag, you think we have to change the
to the

-
Inappropriate? The pubdate tag is not working on the feed... :(
-
Inappropriate?Hi Jose--
If it's an RSS feed, PubDate should work.
It it's an ATOM feed, then it can be "published", "created", or "updated."
What format is the timestamp? Here are a few example formats that will work:

(The last one is assumed to be GMT)
Hope that helps. Let us know if it's still not working for you.

Inappropriate?@NetWebLogic--
This is a tricky one. It looks like the RSS feed you added is from Google Reader, correct?
Are these articles ones that you somehow tag or share?
We talked to a user previously about this issue... the problem is that you'll add articles to the feed, but they will retain the original article's publication date.
HootSuite always sorts the feed by publication date, and then takes items off the top. This may be what's happening:
1) Let's say you go through your Google Reader feeds and choose 5 posts fo share. Let's say they were all published today, the 20th. You add them to your Shared feed, and they appear in the RSS.
2) When HootSuite checks your feed, we see those 5 posts and we sort them by date order. The publication date is the publication date from the original feed (the 20th).
3) Hootsuite then posts the 5 items to Twitter, and we keep track of the most recent -- let's say the most recent of the 5 was from 9:00am on the 20th.
4) Now let's say you find some other items you want to share in Google Reader, but these posts are from yesterday, the 19th. You add 5 posts from yesterday.
5) In your Shared Google Reader feed, these items appear at the top. However, when HootSuite reads it, we sort by date. So these items from yesterday appear at the bottom.
6) We then check to see if there are any new posts. Since we don't see any new posts since 9:00am on the 20th (the most recent date we have recorded), we don't post anything.
I'm not sure there's a good way to solve this issue.
Because of the way the "original dates" are preserved, the order in which you add things to your "shared" feed can't be preserved.
The best workaround might be to make sure to share older items first, then work your way up toward newer items.
Hope that makes sense. -
Inappropriate?Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the lengthy explanation, I appreciate knowing how you sort the RSS out, and It makes sense what you're saying.
Unfortunately this method won't really work well for me so I'll have to go back to twitterfeed, but I do love your client so I'll stick with it!
I’m gonna live with it

Inappropriate?Hi NetWebLogic--
Is Twitterfeed able to handle your Google Reader feed in a way that works for you?
If so, we might need to dig a little deeper to see what they're doing that we might not be doing... -
Inappropriate?Yes, it is doing the job (still could be more reliable but it works most of the time). If you look at @socialmediatek you'll see that twitterfeed has been updating whereas your has not. It uses the same feed.
