Consecutive bad problems with HP Pavilion dv6000 in europe (notebook).
First, my pc had an broken memory DIMM and it was always giving me BSODs. I gave an big explanation to the HP support and they understood i did all the testing required and it was in fact a broken memory dimm. I also mentioned my battery losing power, but that wasn't a big problem so i didn't really give importance. But i mentioned it. They said "everything will be tested when you send your pc, including the battery". Battery wasn't recalled, memory was and pc screen had a glitch so it also was recalled (glitch not even mentioned in any conversation with tech support). Now, it came from HP, and 6 months after the recall i still have the battery issues, worse than ever. Dont even mention the battery calibration. It wont work. Also, the power cord went bad so i must keep the power cord in a fixed position so it will give power to the pc. Result: battery dies in *seconds* and powercord is attached with tape because any movement can break the energy.
Help? Suggestions?
P.S.: I was going to send it back to HP, but they only have battery warranty for one year and the warranty expired one month before :( and i would have to buy new battery+ac adapter.If you don't suggest anything useful i will call HP and tell them that they should have fixed it the first time the laptop was sent. It was already happening and the battery was included when i sent the PC. As you might imagine, im having a terrible experience.
P.S.: The battery started losing each time more power. Calibration does not solve this. battery life: 15 mins when i sent to recall, 5 secs now. when i say 5 seconds i mean in 5 secs it loses completely the power. like hard shutdown. pc cant even activate hibernation. its quite quick.

Inappropriate?This sounds like a faulty adapter to me.
Had a DELL machine which would work on AC but not charge the battery.
Also, my DV6747tx just died on me.
See about buying a 3rd party AC adapter.
Amacrox make some good ones if you can find them in your country.
Hope this helps. -
I really appreciate your reply. Not, that's not it, let me give you guys an update:
- Since no one answered my question, i called HP and they sent me a new adapter. It wont fix the problem, so i called HP again and told them that maybe it wasnt the AC adapter, but the AC power connector inside the laptop or some component inside the laptop that manages the power. They then told UPS to pass by and grab the PC and send it overcountries. They told me that the repair would take max. 15 days or less. Its been 7 days since i sent it, still waiting for news. As you know, this isn't the first time i send a PC to HP, so I'm not worried. -
Sorry, i was thinking in power cord when you said power adapter. NVM. i suppose they will replace it while in warranty. I *suppose* -
Inappropriate?Possibly a complete power distribution problem resulting from the motherboard.
When you get it fixed, fill me in.
Interested in seeing what the issue really was. -
Inappropriate?Hey! Got the PC back.
Summary of symptoms:
-No1: BA501_-Battery- battery life is too short.
-No1: CHDMG-2_- Chassis damage in-house
-No1: MB118_- No boot hangs at POST
Summary of defects:
-No1: BA - Battery
-No1: PLA - CHASSIS
-No1: PCB - PCCard
Summary of reparations:
-No1: BAF1 - Replaced Battery
-No1: CHF1W - Replaced Chassis Side Panel
-No1: ADF1 - Replaced Sound Card
Replaced Pieces
Printed Circuit Board (Various) - SPS-USB PWR CONNECTOR BD (90W);
Keyboard - SPS-KEYBOARD PORT PAV;
Plastics - SPS LCD BEZEL W/WEBCAM/MIC PAV;
Plastics - SPS LCD BACK COVER; PAV FF;
Battery - SPS-BATTERY 6C 4.0AH
This summary was taken from the Repair Report. Well, the power connector was replaced (broken, i guess), the keyboard was replaced (dunno why, but i have now a very clean and good keyboard :)), they putted some plastics in the back of the pc and in the webcam to protect the PC (had to remove the Webcam bezel to use it) and they replaced the battery. Not sure why they mentioned the sound card, maybe its a mistake or maybe it was almost broken...
I only like HP because of the Notebook's warranty repair service. It's fast and effective. Although, they don't repair "potencial problems", and that's a shame.
I’m happy

Had you backed up your pc before sending it off? Did it come back with all files? -
Inappropriate?I just called hp because i was having the same problem with my power cord not staying in the laptop unless i held it in a certain position and then eventually it completely stopped working and the adapter indicator would not light up at all and now i have no power. He said this is a known problem and they have an enhanced warranty to cover this now. He said to send it in and they will replace the motherboard.
