How come I can't scan with my 5510xi?
I'm trying to scan but I keep getting this error from the printer's little readout thing: No scan options. You need to install or run HP software for feature. The thing is, I've already reinstalled the software. It just keeps giving me this error. Can anyone help me? I'm using an HP 5510xi.

I don't work in the IPG (Imaging and Printing Group) part of HP, but since I use a lot of our products, I'll venture a suggestion.
You say you already reloaded the software. I assume that's the software that came with your printer/scanner. You should try going to www.hp.com and looking for additional software for your product. Search for "Support" and then your product model. Good luck! -
Inappropriate?Thanks. I actually did go to their Web site and they say this: "The latest HP driver software for this printer is included as part of the Mac OS X v10.5 (Leopard) default install; there is no need to download or reinstall any HP software."
But, I still can't scan.

I was given an HP 5510xi All-In-One printer a while back.and recently, I tried to scan a pic. I too was unable to do do so. I found this information by visiting:

If you have the Vista program, which I have...the scan button does not function. You need to go to start, program,
Accessories,
click Paint
click file, and then click From scanner or Camera
click Scan,
If you are using Windows:
Click programs and then Windows Fax and Scan,
click New scan,
click file, and then click Scan,
I hope this works for you. I am now able to scan. Yea! You should no longer get the error msg.
