HP c6180 all-in-fun - Mac OS X network scan problem!
My system is a Mac Pro; OS X 10.5.7; with a networked HP Photosmart C6180 printer/fax/scanner/copier as noted above. It all worked fine - well Image Capture never worked - but I could scan with the HP Photosmart Studio. Then I got the Apple released - HP Printer Drivers Update 1.1.1
Now my printer will not scan across the network at all.
So the problem is with an Apple rewrite of HP printer software/drivers. I can prove this (and have proved this twice already) by reverting to the HP-posted drivers. So I can either uninstall, and reinstall the HP software and then refuse driver updates ... or restore from backup and then refuse driver updates ... Any better solutions?

Inappropriate?Hi Gene
I have a similar problem (scanner not found) on our network with an hp L7580 AIO. Not sure how similar it is to c6180, but my scanning stopped mid-08 presumably after someone's software update. Im my case NEITHER reverting to hp-only drivers NOR installing all the updates (both hp and apple) restores the function, however. Three attempts in 9 mo. with hp support have proved fruitless.
It still works perfectly via USB as I confirmed recently. I was hoping that sharing the printer/scanner via a hub would restore all services, as a friend found this worked, but that failed for me using TimeCapsule. You might try this jic?
I agree it is software problem, perhaps it is time to push hp harder?

Until Snow Leopard (and I have not tried it) so long as I removed all HP sw, then installed drivers and sw from hp site, and continually refused the Apple 1.1.1 driver release - then all worked well for me - seems that did not work for you? If you finish on teh Apple 1.1.1 drivers it will definitely fail. -
Jean: Now translated, I'll try it if I really need it ... thanks! I think my own process may be easier, though I must re-install the HP sw ... does this solution prevent the perpetual update request to update the drivers to the apple version? -
Inappropriate?I have the same problem as you. Only after using the printer update from Apple. I decided to delete all printer update, and reinstall from Goggle HP website and now everything works fine.
